HAMILTON ACADEMICAL
IN:
OUT: Jamie Barjonas (Airdrieonians), Euan Henderson (Airdrieonians), Lewis Latona (Livingston), Jackson Longridge (Greenock Morton), Sean McGinty (Airdrieonians), Connor Murray (Coleraine, loan made permanent), Chris Neeson (Albion Rovers), Daire O`Connor (Ballymena United), Arran Preston (Clydebank), Nikolay Todorov (Arbroath), Reghan Tumilty (St. Johnstone), Ricki Lamie (Ross County, end of loan), Charlie Telfer (Ross County, end of loan), Charlie Albinson, Gravine Kalala
They have had a `transfer ban` so not announced/signed Comrie.
I imagine they`ll field two trialists again tonight.

They still have some decent Championship-standard players like Robinson, MacDonald, Shaw, O`Hara, Connor Smith, McKinstry and have played Lamie as a trialist as well as Comrie. I think they want to sign Charlie Telfer too so he could feature as an alternative trialist.

Hamilton have got a decent enough squad that should get them promotion back to the Championship. Players such as Shaw, Robinson, Smith, O’Hara, Bradley n Mckinstry. My pick for League 1 was Inverness to start but I see they start on -5 points so we’ll see how it goes.
Comrie though, what’s the script with that? Obviously can’t officially sign with them but can only play a max of three games as a trialist. Not really a point of being there unless there’s a back handed brown envelope being handed to him ? Really did think he’d have secured a club by now. Someone like Partick, Morton or QP. He’s bides through the west in Glasgow I’m sure.

Not just Michael Tidser. 3 ex-Pars are involved!
`Former Motherwell skipper Scott Leitch is set to become the new head of Hamilton Accies` youth academy amid a number of new appointments at the League One club.
The 55-year-old former midfielder would bring a wealth of experience to the role, having been assistant manager at the Steelmen and Aberdeen, both under Mark McGhee.
Leitch was a manager in his own right at Ross County in 2006/07 and was also academy head at Motherwell between 2013-17.
Leitch brought through the likes of David Turnbull during that period and also worked with a very young Lennon Miller when he was making his first strides in the game at Fir Park.
And it is understood Leitch is set to be joined by former Dunfermline and Kelty Hearts boss Michael Tidser as well as former Hibs striker and ex-Albion Rovers boss Kevin Harper, who will assist with the club`s youth sides this season as they look to rebuild their elite academy after a summer of change.
Accies` first team star Dylan McGowan has been promoted to first-team coach, which has created a vacancy in the youth setup.`

They can sign some players but subject to very strict limits -
`As per SPFL rules, Accies can register players who were born on, or after, 1 January 2006, as well as amateur players but it`s another bitter blow for John Rankin`s side as they face an uphill battle to return to the Scottish Championship at the first attempt.`

What a mess, they also got a suspended fine for not declaring accounts yet again.
Hard to see how they can start the season, hard to think how they can afford to have a guy like Ollie Shaw on the books, although this seems to be part of the reason for Hamiltons opaque running.
Feel sorry for Comrie, but was curious why he `signed` for a 3rd tier team when he is a decent 2nd tier player
What a mess, still full time when not even playing in Hamilton.

I think curious is a bit generous if we’re being honest. If he had better offers on the table from championship clubs you`d think he`d have taken them. Hamilton were a shambles when he signed, and everyone could see it. Fair play to him for going there and trying it out but it always looked like a gamble.Shame it didn’t work out, but I reckon he will sign for another League 1 side.

Does this not make it even less likely they would sell Shaw? They`ll really need to hang on to what they have.
Purely conjecture, but those fairly well known appointments in youth development could be because they knew this was coming and knew they would need to focus on getting the most out of the young players they have.
Would have Shaw in a heartbeat if the move could be done.

That`s the suspect thing, Ollie Shaw was a decent enough striker , and he was ok in the top flight.
Why did he sign for Accies, and why has he been there for all this time?
I see Tidser has signed up as the Academy coach.
Who and why are people looking at this club and not touching it with a bargepole?
Aaron Comrie is comfortably a Championship player, why does he think this is nothing other than career suicide?

Hamilton wont be turning up their noses at offers for Shaw - they clearly need money fast snd it wont come from ticket revenue! Get in there with a bid and test the water!
Comrie and Telfer wont be in a bad spot now though - they’ve had a pre season and competitive fixtures under their belt now and are free to go wherever they want. East Kilbride should make a move….

Will probably come down to what the SFA stipulations were. If they`re told to raise funds quickly to deal with HMRC, then selling players like Shaw might be one of the few levers they can actually pull. If someone comes in with £100k for example, and that knocks a big chunk off the tax bill, I don’t think they’ll have much choice but to accept it.
Depends how bad the situation really is behind the scenes though. If it`s severe, you’d imagine they`ll be open to selling any assets of value. Shaw being one of their better players might not matter if it`s the difference between survival and going under.

I`d be tempted to bid a low ball offer for Shaw and give them some of our younger players on loan, given their restrictions on only being able to sign players born from 2006. We would get a proven goalscorer at this level and help them out in the process by loaning some younger players to help them for a season.

Assuming we bulk up the squad a bit (and plenty time in window) can see a few guys going on loan that are around the first team already, the likes of the Sutherland`s etc. they just need games.
Probably better loaning to more local part time teams? That way they can train full time with us at the same time.

As reported by the Record -
`Hamilton Accies have halted their youth academy set-up, in a letter issued to parents. The club once had an academy that was revered across Scotland, producing players including James McCarthy, James McArthur and, more recently,. Lewis Ferguson. However, the club say they have been forced to make a difficult decision due to feedback from parents, and the resignation of `four more of our coaching staff`. While Accies say it`s not the end of their elite academy, they are halting it for the entire season.
The letter was issued today by sporting director Gerry Strain.`
I think that may mean Michael Tidser`s job has gone. Hamilton had players who signed as `amateurs` playing at the weekend. It must be difficult playing full-time football as an amateur.

There is an understandable reluctance to send football clubs to the wall. They usually mean a lot to many people in the local community. Let`s not forget that the Pars creditors accepted an offer of 0p in the £ in 2013 or we`d have been toast.

I have a parking space on Appin Crescent, outside the house, just a bit to the right due to zigzags immediately in front.
Ive lost 2 van mirrors and one mirror on a brand new mobility car. There is plenty space to pass. Just careless drivers.
A couple of days ago I got a knock on the door. I was showering my disabled son at the time.
A car had broken down adjacent to me and the traffic was backed up as far as I could see.
I left my son and went to move it.
There are disabled stickers on the back window.
I got dogs abuse from a driver behind me.
For a moment I thought, fk you, you can wait and head back indoors. He could explain to the others.
Thought better of it and shifted it.
I have to park there to load and unload the wheelchair, or I would use Leys Park CP.

I agree, and it`s correct that there is a reluctance.
This applied when Cowden were in the league (pitch size and inadequate floodlights) and Bonnyrigg (pitch) but these were given a few attempts to get it right -Bonnyrigg ignored it and suffered the consequences.
Hamilton have since the last hearing failed to pay HMRC 3 times and on none of these occasions informed the SPFL-This is not on in any way acceptable.
So, financially what is really going on here? Why would a (previous )Premier striker sign for them when they were a 3rd tier side, and why would he stick around?
And the others, the new coaches, and `trialists` at what point did they think `that`s the club for me!` playing in front of 200 fans every fortnight, I`m guaranteed a full time wage!

I thought we were supposed to be getting a ringroad on the north of the town. What happened to that?
Aye, Hamilton! What are they like eh?
That`s ridiculous what`s happened. The road I think you mean will take years. It also won`t help Appin Crescent much as it`ll run from the back of Halbeath Retail park, come out where Whitefield Road meets Kingseat Road and then run along the old railway path round the edge of Townhil loch, through the hanging strip and to Wellwood.
The original bypass for Appin Crescent can`t be built anymore as there are flats and the likes of Aldi in the way.

I`m used to threads on here going off at a tangent but I`m struggling to see what Hamilton have to do with the Dunfermline bypass.

I didnt know the planned route after Townhill loch.
I figured a north road would take traffic from the motorway to the W fife villages. That would help Appin Crescent.
It would also provide a faster, alternative route for commuters from Kingseat to Hamilton

"An American-based consortium are in advanced talks over a takeover of League One Hamilton Academical. "
and surprise surprise....
"The move comes as the SPFL prepare to open new disciplinary proceedings against the club over alleged irregularities surrounding the registration of amateur players"
"And while SPFL rules state that amateur players should only be paid reasonable expenses the league have now informed Hamilton chiefs of plans to open fresh disciplinary proceedings over settlement payments made to players they subsequently tried to register as amateurs"

What I find difficult to understand is why there has been no reported interest in Oli Shaw from any source since Hamilton`s difficulties became apparent. Any ideas?

Someone on here said that Shaw failed a medical with us but I called bull$hit on it since he’s played every game for Hamilton.
It certainly is surprise no-one appears to be trying to get him. Not publicly anyway, as we know you never know what goes on behind the scenes.

Could be a number of reasons. He has 2 years left on his contract so a fee would be involved. He just got married so maybe wants to settle down for a bit? I think he has 7/8 clubs already?
Before he scored for Hamilton last season he had gone 2 and a half years without a league goal(April 2022-August 2024) so maybe clubs just don`t fancy him. I don`t know if he had injuries during this period or not but he played 38 league games for 3 clubs without scoring.

Apparently payday iat Hamilton, could be interesting!
What happened to Aaron Comrie? He played as trialist for them, obviously can`t sign for them, so did no other club sign him yet?

I think it`s the Metro, the notice has to go in the Gazette and one other publication.
