According to the Cambridge dictionary a `colony` is `a country or area controlled politically by a more powerful country`. Given that Westminster is always going to be controlled by a majority of English MPs from a Unionist party is that not the situation Scotland is in?

October 1974 is in your lifetime DBP if you’re 50.
Harold Wilson won a majority of 3. Without his 41 Scottish MPs, he wouldn’t have had a majority.
Furthermore, Wilson and later Jim Callaghan lost their majority and relied on SNP support to keep them in power until the SNP dropped the sword of Damocles on Callaghan’s head and allowed Maggie T in.
So I guess - by Wee Eck’s or Cambridge dictionary’s definition - England was a Scottish colony from 1974-1979. Scotland also represented the UK in 2 world cups in that era.

I guess you missed the July 4th 2024 election, but Scotland has the government it voted for now. I guess you also missed the Tony Blair/Gordon Brown years.

Regarding Tony Blair, I’m just saying Scotland voted for him 3 times and got him 3 times. Scotland voted for Keir Starmer and we’ve got him. But apparently it’s not enough for Scotland to get the government it voted for, we need England to not get what it voted for - Nat logic.
