I`ve never understood the Royals. So centuries ago some guy decided he had loads of power and was "King" of the land and then someone brought religion into and acted like he had been selected by God, and conveniently enough his bloodline would be preselected to take over upon his death.
It`s 2024 and people are singing about an unelected leader who repeatedly cheated on his wife and has an alleged paedophile for a brother.
How the hell are people still accepting this nonsense?

I`m no royalist but citing Russia as a good example of getting rid of their monarchy is a wee bit hard to swallow. Who did they get instead? Lenin, Stalin and now Putin. Don`t look at him in the wrong way or you`re sampling Novichok with your corn flakes.

It’s a ROYAL anthem, not a “national” one - where else is the NA focused on the unelected head of state - not even North Korea or Iran I suspect. Time it was ditched, long since.

The human race is greatly skilled in tyranny, no matter what the political regime may be. After the Russian and French Revolutions, the UK gained much greater freedom through the non conformist religious movements, including Methodists and Baptists and our radical politicians, poets etc. We didn`t go down the violent, revolutionary road and some say that`s just as well because we were spared the excesses of Robespiere, Lenin etc.
Before that, why did the Cromwellian revolution fail? Because the mass of the population favoured a monarchy rather than a Puritan autocracy. Be careful what you wish for.
But at the end we will all be subject to the King of Kings. Heaven and Earth shall flee away, when He comes to reign. The difference with this King is that He gave up His life for us all. He died in our place. We get into His Kingdom by accepting the free gift of His sacrifice on the cross for us. Some kingdoms are worth being in. In the words of George Orwell:
‘A French journalist said to me once that the monarchy was one of the things that have saved Britain from Fascism. What he meant was that modern people can’t, apparently, get along without drums, flags and loyalty parades, and that it is better that they should tie their leader-worship onto some figure who has no real power. In a dictatorship the power and the glory belong to the same person.
It is at any rate possible that while this division of function exists a Hitler or a Stalin cannot come to power. On the whole the European countries which have most successfully avoided Fascism have been constitutional monarchies.’

There could be something in that. In my experience royalists tend to be fairly stupid people, in need of something to belong to and willing to believe any old rubbish they are told. Fairly easy to manipulate simpletons like that. They are usually fairly right wing, so I could see how they would be right into fascism too

I saw a short newsreel of the Spanish king and queen being abused by a crowd in Valencia. Maybe all is not well there.
On national anthems, you can stick the British, Scottish, and Australian anthems where the sun doesn`t shine, but listening to the South African anthem sung with emotion can bring me to tears—it is such a beautiful song.

^^^^ It certainly is.
It is a beautiful accumulation of several languages that combines important cultural words from each ethnic group thus bringing them closer altogether.
I learned this anthem and sang it at a Scotland v Springboks rugby match at Murrayfield whilst on a first date with my now wife. The Zulu warriors performed a type of "Hakka" and the atmosphere was electric.

Just spotted the opportunity Pars4life1, while considering Crooked Royalty, to point people to the perfection of the One who is King of Kings and Lord of Lords, who said to Pontius Pilate that He was a King but that His kingdom was not of this world. His Kingdom will last forever and unlike our present rulers, He will reign in perfect righteousness. We are told that He will return in great power and glory, that every eye (even yours and mine) will see Him and every tongue confess that He is Lord. Surely you are aware that the world we inhabit is approaching the end of it`s life span, so the present world order with its temporary rulers pale into insignificance compared to the reality of the coming eternal kingdom.

Years ago, I found myself doing a property project for a large retail bank, and there was a ‘price per desk’ that covered the annual cost of all aspects of having a desk in each city location, eg the property rental, the price for having canteens, receptions, security, infrastructure (networking cables/electrics/etc), maintenance, etc …it didn’t cover the cost of actual salaries of the workforce, but that followed a similar pattern but not as extreme.
Anyway, it was a while back, but from memory, London was more than double Edinburgh, which was in turn more than double places like Leeds

It said in the video these charities were paying figures like £18m to King Charles for offices. Seems incredible to be spending millions of charitable donations.

It`s Biden and Starmer that have us nuclear ground zero, not Trump.
It`s all of them. No innocents in polyticks
Read yer bible. Trump 666. Little doubt....but maybe jist a wee bit for now.
That`s all I`m offering on this thread. It`s meant to be about thieving royals, not the thieving presidential antichrist.
Maybe start a discussion on Trumpski later.

As the young American missionary, Jim Elliot said, "he is no fool, who gives what he cannot keep, to gain what he cannot lose".

The only deranged things about the rapist lying fraudster is Trump and his cult.

The reason he won so convincingly isn’t because he’s seen as someone special, the reason he’s won in part is because there was lies told about him by the DNC, the MSM coverage of him was insane and then they constantly tried to drag him through the courts which looked like a witch hunt of a political opponent.
But here you are spouting out the same lines that seen him wipe out the democrats 🤷🏻♂️
At what point do you question the information you receive?

Not sure how getting found guilty of fraud is a “witch hunt” exactly 🤔

That`s a good question to ask yourself. I listen to all sides but in particular I pay attention to the subject. No need for second hand news.
