Who would genuinely believe that someone should be assassinated for holding different political views. Honestly feels like a low point.

I had never heard of the guy before. Spent a couple of minutes reading some of his views and some of the things that he`s been quoted as saying, and it seems I`ve not missed out on much, comes across as a bit of a dick. I`m of the opinion that words are only words, nothing anyone says can offend or hurt me, but I do see that some people can get really uptight about words, and so coming out with some of the nonsense he spouted, in a country so full of gun-toting crazy folk as America, is a bit like putting a target on yourself.
At the end of the day no one should be killed for speaking, but on the other hand, actual nice people are getting killed for no reason at all as well.
On balance, looks like he was simply asking for it, and it`s no great loss anyway

I unfortunately came upon the video by mistake and it is not good viewing.
I’ll be honest I didn’t even know him from Captain Kirk but I really am flummoxed by the American way of thinking about gun laws endorsed (through research) by Charlie Kirk and many many others.
For those of us who went through Dunblane, it is incomprehensible why they still think they have the right to bear arms 200 plus years after the Declaration of Independence

There was a school shooting in Colorado Wednesday afternoon. But to people like Charlie Kirk - I’d never heard of him - deaths from guns was just a reminder of their right to bear arms. Absolute sickos the lot of them.

The right to free speech and the right to bear arms is effectively what has lead to this conclusion. Its a sad day when someone is shot for airing their beliefs, no matter if people agree or disagree.
But, the problem lies in such open gun laws that allow people to bear arms, and even conceal carrying them. One thing that Charlie Kirk advocated for and was shot whilst defending them.
The next question now is where does it leave America? It feels like this is the next step towards civil war there.

A terrible tragedy and one that will likely have long lasting effects. It was only earlier this year that a couple of Democrat politicians were murdered on their doorstep in Minnesota by a radical right winger. Be interesting to see who was behind this latest murder though at present the gunman seems to have just vanished.
Political assassinations aren`t new in America though. In the sixties you had JFK, RFK, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King all murdered in the space of a few years.

Can`t remember Trump doing an address to the nation when those two Democrat politicians were murdered, or have all flags put to half mast. In fact, I`m pretty sure that he and his cronies completely ignored it.

If killing someone’s who’s political views you disagree with is your answer then anarchy will be the result. It could easily become tit for tat and there are more than enough well armed Americans to cause anarchy.
Being able to speak your mind is a right we should all have in a so called free country, although some of the words emanating from the mouths of certain people could easily be seen as inflammatory.
Look at the state the UK is in whereby people opposing genocide are being arrested. Scots in favour of independence being labelled “ Separatists “ by UK Gov ministers no less….
If Farage and his cronies get elected into government then we could quite easily see the UK slide into anarchy, after all what starts off in the US usually finds its way to these shores. Far right, racist politics becoming the norm is just one example. Farage and Boris the clown take/took their lead from the mad Trumpian. It’s not going to end well.
What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

Who knows what the further implications will be. I don’t think there’s going to be much positive though. I really hope this isn’t going to be tit for tat but I don’t think Trump has it in his arsenal to calm everyone down. He should have done more in the aftermath of the June murders of the two democrats. Hopefully Trump proves us all wrong.
Off the top of my head, I can’t think of any other political commentators being assassinated? Numerous politicians but a political commentators/influencer. I think this is the first one 🤷🏻♂️

Yes, last night I only had time for a quick search, today I wasted some more of my time reading about him, shouldn`t have bothered, his views weren`t really worth considering- sexist, homophobic, racist, transphobic, what seemed like bizarre fantasies about whipping and shooting at immigrants and wanting executions televised live and sponsored by Coca-Cola, advocating the death penalty for Joe Biden, the violent rhetoric which he was peddling, stoking hatred, his pro-gun stance and lack of empathy for the victims of school shootings.
Empathy is a weakness.

It`s obviously horrendous what happened and should be condemned in the strongest possible way.
No-one should be gunned down for simply expressing views or indeed just existing and going about their daily lives.
However, I`m not going to mourn for someone I didn`t know and for someone who expressed so clearly that victims of gun violence were an acceptable trade off for the right to bear arms. If you think the video of Charlie Kirk being murdered was horrendous (and it was) then close your eyes and have a thought experiment to yourself for the kind of utter heartbreaking brutality that happens in scores and scores of schools in the USA each and every year.
Lastly, all the worst people in the world are out in force - including the leader of the "free world" - and are manipulating this horrendous incident for their own gain.
Really worrying times for the world. For the first time in a long time I fear for the immediate future.

Until the shooter is arrested no one actually knows why it happened. Assumptions don’t help anyone. His family have enough to deal with at this moment and their faith will prevail, as my reading of his background it’s clear that the church was a big part of his life.

Not sure what you don`t understand. He picked out the bits of the Bible that fitted his own beliefs, which he claimed were Christian ones. So, for example, not a fan of homosexuality as the bible says a man should not lie with another man. The Bible also says man should not mix wool and linen, yet I didn`t see him campaigning for this particular practice to stop, nor did he abstain from wearing mixed fabric clothing. So that line didn`t apparently matter, but one about two men being together did.
He can hold whatever beliefs he chooses. It`s HIS opinion and HIS beliefs. But let`s not make the excuse that it`s Christian beliefs or values.

What doesn’t help is the news outlets spouting random theories - the latest being there were multiple bullets with messages on them. FBI/Police haven’t mentioned it - don’t announce it.

Its the kids I feel for the most in this. Their dad taken from them because someone didn’t like some things he said - that should never happen. They now have to go through life without a father because of this.
Whether or not you agree with his views (which I don’t), doesn’t mean he should be shot or killed.
Was told this morning by my mate that he has been more vocal against Trump and Israel recently too. Whether or not thats true I dont know.
BUT the full irony of the situation that he has backed the 2nd amendment then been killed because of that amendment, should really make Americans wake up.

Maybe we have jumped to conclusions but with him being the leading man of Turning point USA it’s kind of obvious why he’d be targeted

Spent a couple minutes looking into a guy you’ve never heard of and deciding him being murdered infront of his wife and kids was no great loss and he was asking for it. What an utter cretin you are.
As I said earlier, no great loss
No great loss, regardless of whether u agree or disagree no one deserves to lose their life in that way, and what gives u the right to compare value of life, to you he may mean nothing, to those poor kids and poor wife he meant everything
Think before u speak u weird weird bloke
