Airdrie with a very attacking line up as usual. Quite a bit of height up front too with Todorov and McGill. I`d imagine they will try to target Hamilton in the air.

No C.Kane is disappointing.

KRH back is good to see.

Still a fairly solid squad without Kane. Perhaps he has a "no midweek" rule as part of his contract?

Kane being out is a massive loss. Hope it’s nothing serious. He’s made a massive difference to our attack since he joined.

Should probably be ahead but let Airdrie take charge and now behind. Todarov, of course it had to be. McCann lost all his timing with headers. Jumping far too early for every ball.

Kelty I noticed that on sat too, mccann is beating himself in the air these days. On the deck it’s not much better, lucky to still be starting. Still he’s long overdue a goal or even an assist so law of averages and all that.

Without Kane you just feel a bit deflated, we know Jak and McCann are not strikers in a traditional sense and rarely look like scoring.

Not sure it warranted a red and it hasn`t really helped us. We are trying to force things - Todd in particular doesn`t have his usual air of calmness - and the longer it goes like this the better it suits the visitors.

Im A wee bit disappointed we are behind , certainly our play deserves better but as I said earlier when you get chances you need to take them
I thought Moffat would have started tonight as he did well on saturday , but I`m not the manager so I assume there is a reason why Summers started ahead of him
More of the same but please can I have a few goals from the Pars

Summers, Jakubiak and McCann all struggled with Airdrie defending well.

The Edwards long throws need to be thrown in the bin. Slowly delivered balls easily defended when you don`t have a few big lumps up there to push defenders around.

triple change now
We have to go for it !
Airdrie will be happy to have 9 behind the ball and defend , then hit on the break because they will be pretty sure we aren`t going to score the way things have been going
I would like to see us upping the pace a bit we are far too lethargic

Feels like Kane is going to be the difference between us finishing 9th or higher.

Summers must have started as has fresh legs….he’s scored a couple of goals but apart from that offers very little, Moffat would have been better. At least with bene back Hamilton can move forward and we can try Todd and perhaps otoo a bit further forward

Upfront is poor, at least Jak can be moved on in the summer, what are we going to do with the likes of McCann and o`hallaran? Don’t score and have no final ball you’re not contributing anything.

Welch-Hayes, Fagan-Walcott and Otoo at a push the only ones who have performed at anything resembling Championship level tonight. Worst game I think Todd has ever had for us, Hamilton, Summers, McCann, Edwards all having poor games. Jakubiak started brightly when we were playing into feet but faded (as you`d expect) when we inexplicably started going long. Subs have had zero impact at all - KRH and Holmes have barely touched the ball, O`Halloran has given it away more than anything else and only Moffat has looked like he has anything about him. Firhill seems an awful long time ago now.

I wish we would reduce these Edwards` long throws. They lose valuable time when we chase a game and are usually picked up by an opposition player.

For me it’s poor. We are very ineffective and really haven’t caused them much bother. No real striker on the park and unbalanced with no left midfield.
10 minutes lost between losing the second goal and changing the team.
While I wasn’t a big fan of Todorov we never replaced him.

I`ll be happy if this season ends without relegation. It has been a season filled with disappointment and missed opportunities. For instance, tonight, Todd could have had a hat trick 20 minutes in. Instead, two sucker punches from ex-Pars strikers and all the good feelings that came out of Saturday disappear into the night sky.

Well normal service resumed tonight !
I was stupid enough to think we had turned the corner , and could have taken something from the game tonight !
Some good Chances but do not have someone to take them !
First half thought we were unlucky to be behind and thought we would come out second half and do more of the same !
But not to be ,We have to be honest second half has just not been good enough we have huffed and puffed but that doesn`t win you games , disappointed we have kept pumping high balls up the park which has suited Airdrie
And we have to stop giving the ball away too easily
Again a defeat that was self inflicted
I know this saturday is a derby game and anything can happen , but I already know that Raith are going to hit us with crosses as we cannot defend them , this has been our undoing for a long time !
Do not like to be a defeatist but cannot see us getting anything from the game against Raith , only chance we would have is to score first and hope they have an off day , as we are one of the few teams that cannot beat them

Played well up until that second goal. A goal out of nothing and it totally took the energy out us. We`ll play like that and get results more often than lose, but the lack of a natural goalscorer is worrying. Puts us back in to a crappy position. Wouldn`t be the Pars if we didn`t make it hard for ourselves tbf.

We are brutal and nobody can defend it.

Not clinical enough and that was before we went into the transfer window and we only brought in Kane who looks like he needs game managed.

Summers will never make it, thinks he’s better than he is and dues t look up for the fight.

McPake needs to stick to a team as well Moffat started on Saturday and was lively then he’s benched.

Brings on KRH who likes to attack and run but no exactly easy in the side of the field which looked like you could grow potatoes in.

Can anyone tell me what style or identity we have? As it stands it’s. Over hit long balls and get the ball wide to swing in for a small striker.

Roll on Saturday

Tonight was a sore one for us !
We all probably thought because we had a wee bit of a momentum going things would have turned out better tonight , once again we are the architects of our own downfall by the manner of the goals we gave away !
Our problem has always been there all season when we get chances we do not take them , It`s goals that win games and unfortunately we do not score enough of them , but certainly ship enough avoidable goals
I was disappointed tonight but that`s part of supporting the Pars , we have our ups and downs ,Let`s hope we can change that on Saturday
Cmon Ye Pars

One up front at home and little wonder we can’t score goals……well done to jakubiak for working hard and creating his own opportunities……time to think seriously now about a change as mcpake appears out of his depth when having to change a game at this level

Airdrie wont have an easier second half of football between now and the rest of the season. It’s evident that we badly rely on Chris Kane up front in the short space of time he’s joined. We didn’t have a striker constantly pressuring and hassling their back line tonight. We did start well and you would have expected Todd to finish at least one of his three chances! McCann could created a few chances as well if he could time his headers!

McPake got it completely wrong starting Ben Summers ahead of Moffat. It was always going to be a physical game tonight and he just hides away from any 50/50 battle. Also Taylor Sutherland must wonder what he has to do to get a chance when Brad Holmes is coming off the bench to give us absolutely nothing. Would love him to do well but he’s showing nothing positive for me.

The other two things that make no sense is why we have every man back defending when we’re 2-0 down with 10 minutes to go and why we persist on Edwards’ long throws. I’d be curious to see how many he’s attempted this season.

We never make it easy for ourselves and I think we have to take points off Raith or Utd now. Teams around us are picking up unexpected points and we need to do the same. It’s going to be a tough end to the season with plenty twists and turns I’d imagine.

Other than the first 15-20 mins that was tough to watch tonight. Airdrie didnt create any more than us, the difference was their strikers knowing how to find the net.

Great that we found a bit of form the last few weeks, but that relied very heavily on goals coming from defence and midfield. We are going route one with a lot of balls from the back and throw ins and I like that it`s reduced the messing around at the back, but we don`t seem to have anyone commanding enough in the air to win most of those so it rarely goes anywhere. Jak holds the ball up well when it goes to feet, but second half everything was coming at him at head height.

As others have said MFW excellent again tonight, he wins everything. Welch-Hayes good too, as was Otoo. I though Allan was playing well so was surprised he was taken off.

Sorry folks, my fault tonight, not seen us win in person since Sept 23rd so thought Id pop along in the faint hope that would change tonight - nope 🤦🏻‍♂️

Poor defensively for both goals (how Edwards in marking Todorovs strange and welch-Hayes had a shocking header leading to 2nd) and powderpuff finishing up top where nobody can hit the target……

Also, Edwards deliveries tonight were shocking all night, when did he forget how to cross a ball? I feel sorry for the attackers at times with the dregs they have to feed off.

Shout out to Paul Allan and MFW tonight - best of a bad bunch IMO, although may need to recheck the goals again for the centre halves 🙄

I felt there was a lack of leaping players in the box, RMGPar, or the throws were just too long.

So many shots tonight went into the side netting or wide of the posts. Is it a lack of concentration?

But the most annoying thing tonight was Airdrie kicking the ball away at nearly every Pars free kick / throw in. The wannabe punch up just summed up their team for me.

KRH looked a bit feared to get barged tonight (no wonder). I`ll sat again no idea what Moffat has done to be benched Summers was never at it. We are capable. A performance I didn`t see coming but hey ho Airdrie were due one on us. Let`s hope that sentiment favours us on Saturday cos we are certainly due one on them. MFW is an absolute find. Him and Bene at the back please.

Jakubiak does all the hard work and graft and everything you want from your striker - but cant hit the target to save himself!

He actually done the defenders a couple of times tonight to create openings for himself, then either passed it or smashed it into the stands/side netting! No finishing ability at all…..

I think Airdrie were well organised and competed. They muscled us out of the game. The first goal was a looping cross, so I thought the keeper could have done better. The second was a good goal. We could have played all night and not scored, I think. Some good play in the first half but missed too many chances. At this stage in the season, we need to be clinical. MFW had another good game, He was solid in defence. We lacked any punch up front which cost us the game really. Strikers should take up golf - important to keep your eye on the ball

Surprised with the amount of people giving Miles pass marks after his awful defending for their second. That killed the game for us.

McCann had a nightmare, the fact he couldn`t time 1 jump to win a header really is unforgivable at this level.

We had some good moves and created decent chances first half, but barely any tested the keeper. On another day, we`d have taken the lead and it`s a different game.

Big improvement needed for Saturday. Won`t hold my breath.

Back to the drawing board. We should have scored in the first minute, I’ll never know why Jakubiak cut it back to McCann instead of putting his laces through the ball!! With a wee bit more composure in front of goal we could have been two goals in front before they scored. Mehmet and Edwards should have done better at the Todorov goal. For their second goal a striker who didn’t kick a ball for us at EEP hits a worldly, but he was given to much space and time. On reflection Airdrie bullied us all night and scored with their two attempts on target. Why did Summers start before Moffat. The jury is out on McCann he doesn’t look interested? Let’s hope Chris Kane is not out for a lengthy period. The back 4 looked reasonably solid tonight. But Edwards crossing/final ball needs significant improvement. Paul Allen good in midfield and his dead ball deliveries are good. Lots to think about in advance of our visit to the San Starko. Do we bring Benedictus back to the fold and play Hamilton in midfield. Staying above 9th place is still in our hands with 9 games to go. COYP

We played well the first half but didn`t score but should have. Going behind was a killer as was their second goal.
From then on they defended and we were not doing very much. We didn`t win one contest in their box from corners, free kicks or long throws and there were lots of them.
Against a well organised team like them we have to score first.

Poor display poor tactics and a lack lustre attitude tonight. All polar opposites from what we had on Saturday.
It was clear that after 20 minutes, our game plan wasn`t working. However, nothing was changed. We persisted in high balls onto the Airdrie box, which were all cleared comfortably. To compound this, we then tried long throws into the goal area with the same result. Airdrie hussled and out competed us all over the pitch tonight, something we need to find an answer to if we are to progress. We need a plan B, C, and D if A isn`t working. This plus the willingness to make changes to create better opportunities and progress as a club if are to get to where we want to be.
Sorry for the rant, but it`s back to depression tonight 😞

I was gobsmacked KRH got a run out tonight. I know he was exciting last season but the jury is out for me whether he`ll cut it in this league.

Bene and MFW at the back on Saturday. If KRH was fit enough tonight. Then so was our captain. Hammy into midfield.

There is still, I believe, a catch-all law of "ungentlemany conduct," or unsporting behaviour, punishable with a yellow card, which the ref can use for time wasting and kicking the ball away. Had he shown one early on, the Airdrie players would soon have got the message.

The 2nd goal is ridiculous in the fact that it keeps happening!!! Edwards done it against PT away and Allen done it away at QP. Stupid stuff we`re not learning from is killing us, we are a team that doesn`t score many but give away to many soft goals. I`d gladly bench Lewis for the rest of the season, hoped he would have kicked on after scoring a few last season and tbf he started the season well enough but boy he has went backwards. He doesn`t look remotely like a footballer now, he brings absolutely nothing to the team

A real tale of 2 Half`s last night. We looked okay in the first half and created good chances but didn`t test their keeper.

Going in 1-0 down maybe changed the game as we came out the second half and went into our shell and stopped creating chances.

I think we have a problem with our "big players" not stepping up when needed. Summers signed a long term deal at Celtic but has been a passenger more often than not. McCann for his size can`t judge a header which when your coming up against experienced centre halfs is putting him behind the 8 ball.

Our tactics were just desperate in that second half. We brought KRH on and never really gave him an opportunity to get into the game. We really need to stop the long throws. They worked one game in league 1 and we still think it`s a good way to create chances. Apart from MFW we struggled to win anything in the air.

c'mon the pars

Apart from jakubiak otoo mfw and miles the rest of the squad struggled physically. Maybe tired and leggy, a bad day at the office,

Take nothing away from airdrie they weathered the early storm and got a goal. Their game plan work perfectly.

A great important result for airdrie.

We could`ve played for 3 hours and didn`t even look like scoring after the first 10 mins

Disappointing performance after the win on Saturday. Two ex Pars scoring how many times has Todorov popped up at the back post to head a goal.Outjumped Edwards who wasn`t helped by Mehmet glued to his goal line.
Todd could and should have scored from the chances he had,but its been a season long crisis a lack of a goalscorer.Airdrie came up by the playoffs, and looking good to push for playoffs again.
Hopefully we can stay in this league but it`s going to go down to the wire.

How disappointing was that after Saturday? I don`t think Kane is the only one suffering from fatigue. I suspect McCann would have been `rested` if Kane had been fit as was the plan last Tuesday. Edwards is another who could do with a rest but there`s no obvious replacement for him unfortunately. His deliveries last night, whether in the air or on the ground, were very poor and I thought he could have done better at the first goal.

Am I the only one who is frustrated by Otoo? I love his energy and enthusiasm but how often does he run into trouble or make the wrong decision? Our midfield in general, apart from Todd, rarely get into goal-scoring positions or have a shot from distance.

I don`t understand this comment above re KRH -

`I was gobsmacked KRH got a run out tonight. I know he was exciting last season but the jury is out for me whether he`ll cut it in this league.`

How are we going to find out if he is good enough without playing him? Have we spent all this time getting him fit just to sit on the bench?

Hopefully Kane is fit for Saturday as his drive is infectious and was sadly missed last night. Rovers` confidence won`t be at a high after losing a two-goal lead at Arbroath but we must start on the front foot.

It was only a matter of time before the groundsmen got criticised. Everybody else at the club has had more than their fair share of that.

I was surprised that KRH was thrown into a very physical contest and I was surprised that Paul Allan was taken off given he was playing well. Airdrie deserved their win , kept their shape very well and won most balls in the air. Even in the first half the ball was in our defensive half for far too much of the time.

We are just a poor team now. Airdrie could finish we couldn’t, it’s as simple as that! I’m not sure pinning all our hopes on Kane is a good idea either, but that’s the position we see ourselves in. Kane looks good, but we need to be more than a one man team.

The problem however lies behind the team, At times it looks like we have zero tactics and if we do there’s no alternative if that isn’t working. At times we’ve looked good in the midfield but we have/had no one to finish the moves off (wait and see on Kane) and at the other end of the Park it’s looked like our defence has no confidence in Mehmet which tbh I don’t blame them for because neither do I!

Our recruitment is dire, we’ve given long term contracts to some of our poorest players in Mehmet and Wighton (both are 1st division level no higher) and some of the young guys we’ve brought in clearly haven’t been scouted!

We need a proper reboot behind the scenes, from the manager to the Scout who scouts from our dugout all need to be properly looked at. We need to put the academy on hold for a season or two and focus on the team itself since the Academy will be wasted if we are in the seaside leagues!

It’s just not good enough this team has gone backwards long enough!!

Seen goals again - Hamilton in no mans land for first - actually looks for Todorov as ball goes wide then doesn’t go back to mark him leaving Edwards to have to try cover him. MFW couldve covered any midfield runners as he was marking nobody at near post. Mehmet too busy calling for offside to get himself set to come win it too.

2nd goal a catalogue of errors - Welch-Hayes poor decision with header, then MFW loses his attempt at a header, then McGill given too much time to bring it down and get a shot away - great finish though!

Disappointing, missed chances cost us, the second goal and the subs really took the wind out of us.

Some questionable decisions by McPake as others has mentioned.

Allan was playing well again, why take him off?
Moffat was unfortunate not to start after doing pretty well on Saturday.
KRH was never going to make much of an impact trying to dribble on that pitch.
Holmes actually won a few in the air, but without a central striking partner, and with Matty Todd knackered, it was worthless.

Kane coming back will help, if Bene can return that would also be a boost and it would be good to have the option of Hamilton in the middle again.

I’m no agronomist but my golf course is in the worst condition I’ve ever seen for March. The Greens’ staff are blaming the weather, so maybe there’s something in that.

As for the match – I’m pretty much in agreement with most people on here.

I assume Hamilton won the toss and decided to play “the wrong way”. It didn’t work (although perhaps it should have done). We created a few chances early doors. Todd could have/should have scored (but if he scores the first, the second and third chances don’t happen).

Their goals were class in the cross for the first and the finish for the second. Sure, we could have defended better but often you get away with mistakes. Yesterday we were undone by some quality.

Old failings reappeared – quality of the final ball, and the ability to finish. People say finishing is natural but can’t be coached. I don’t agree. After the opening 15 minutes or so we never looked like scoring other than Allan’s miscued free-kick which hit the post.

We’ve had a lot of games in a short period – I’m not sure if the management team feels it has to manage game time, but that’s an extra problem for them and I suspect they could have handled this better.

One further consequence of the injury crisis is the inability to rest players who need a break or who are short of confidence. I suspect McCann for one would normally have been benched but he’s having to go out and play and play in different positions.

And of course both their goals were scored by strikers we let go. I’m not sure if that is ironic. Everyone tries to “trade-up” which means letting good players leave in the hope of getting better ones; sometimes I wonder if we have too inflated an opinion of who we can attract.

Should Bene come back for Saturday – I’m not sure. Will Kane and Kane become a double-act – I suspect that’s asking too much of both. McPake has some choices to make – and I think he needs a better “Plan B” for Saturday.

I think the first job of any forward player is to hitthe target. Anything else is pointless. If you work the keeper there is always the chance of a rebound. Also when you are playing against a bigger defence you have to turn them. Hard low crosses into the box when defenders are facing their own goal are difficult to defend against. Someone will get a toe on it or a defender will put it out for a corner. It`s about pressuring defenders and playing the numbers game in terms of probability. Goals come from good ppay as well as defensive errors so you have to force errors. Airdrie could have defended all day long I thought last night as we are too predicable and indirect.

A late P.S. to this game. There`s a long article in the Courier saying that McPake spoke to the Head of Referees, Crawford Allan, about Frizzell`s tackle on Welch-Hayes which resulted in a yellow card. Allan agreed it should have been a red. Apparently on the night the stand-side assistant had recommended a red but the ref and far-side assistant had favoured a yellow. There`s a photo which shows how nasty it was although McPake accepts there was no malice in it. He seems to have had a civil discussion with the ref after the match.

ooooft. Going by the photo (which can be misleading) that tackle is an absolute stinker.

The slow motion footage clearly shows it was deliberate
His foot is going down but he then takes a hop and raises it again
Red all day long

It`s bloody tough being a legend
