Going to be interesting to see how we`re, line up with Benedictus, Fagan-Walcott, Fisher and Welch-Hayes playing. I assume MWH will be at right wing back with Ritchie-Hosler further forward although it could be that one of the centre backs plays in the Otoo role alongside Hamilton. Find out soon I guess.

Looks like we’re safe now but we were brutal again today. The midfield was non existent and we got away with a few slack passes at the back. We just need to get this season out of the way and come back stronger next season. Hopefully we can get some better quality in the door in the summer and the injured players will give more with a full preseason under their belts.

Queen`s Park`s last two games are against Arbroath and Airdrie, they will beat Arbroath.
We need to take something from next week and watching Inverness last night I was very impressed with their work rate , passing and intensity. They were better than Raith despite the score.

We had possibly the better of the chances with Kane, McCann and Todd but really that was a tough watch and Queens Park had possibly the best individual chance when the only really good move of the game ended up with Mehmet making a good Dave from close range.
Not sure where to start though. When the team lines came out I wasn`t sure what shape we`d play and watching the game I`m not sure the players knew either. Players on top of each other, huge areas of space not being used at all, Kane somehow isolated even though there were 3 attacking players behind him, the midfield pretty much non existent (and to be fair it was pretty much just Hamilton on his own and he had a torrid afternoon), the substitution of Jakuniak for Welch-Hayes made some sort of sense with Ritchie-Hosler playing in his usual position but just made us worse - it was no surprise that th3y started getting joy down our right, their left after that.
Luckily it was a nice enough afternoon otherwise I`d be raging I didn`t just stay in and watch the snooker. Really dull, ponderous stuff again. What a bore.

That win against utd was more about them having a shocker than us playing a blinder,
If you watch the goals again there`s atleast 3 players always following the ball instead of runners etc under 10`s stuff really,
Today is all on the manager I`m afraid, that squad is defo good enough to beat QP 95% of the time.

There`s no spark in that team at all, someone to do the unexpected or freedom for a gamble to make a half chance.
Lots of sub par performances today. Not nearly enough movement to show for a pass when in possession.
Biggest issue for me really wasn`t the individuals though, it was the shape and system that were more frustrating. I`m sick of watching this style.
It`s ok though, I`m sure in the post match interviews we`ll hear what a great success it is to keep a clean sheet. High fives all round.

Today. Along with times this season, the manager got it terribly wrong.
That squad is good enough to be challenging at the top end of the table.
I`m not convinced about Mcpake, and today doesn`t do him any favours.
Other managers with more experience, Ian McCall, or even dick campbell would have been able to get a handsome result today.
I`m not saying get them managing the team now, but mcpake needs to have a long hard look at his philosophies over the summer.

They are not scoring due to the system and coaching, the only time we look good is when teams have a nightmare, Dundee utd, arbroath 3-0 arbroath 3-3 are examples of the opponents not turning up as opposed to us playing great.

A really lacklustre performance. Nothing for the fans to get excited about. No attacking flair and shaky at the back. McPake took far too long to change things this afternoon. Both the management and the players need to address the malaise, and give the fans something to cheer about. Performances like that are not going to encourage anyone new to buy a season ticket.

We can invest in all the strikers we want but we will always put in away from home performances at East end, unless Mcpake changes his philosophies. His style is fine for away games but it is atrocious for East end park where we should be pumping teams.

This is going to be one of those weeks when someone who didn`t see the game is going to tell everyone they`re wrong after watching the highlights.
Oh dear, what an utterly grim game of football that was. 2 good early chances but a bit of a struggle after that. It seemed incredible to me that in an important game, both sides made it look like a friendly.
The last two games have brought back my doubts about McPake. Against sides that wanted to play a passy style, it had a feeling of him not wanting to be outdone by that. We started OK with some longer passes, but as soon as we settld into that passy guff, it was poor stuff.
Again, it looked like 3-4-2-1 in the first half, but this time with Hosler playing as one of the deeper midfield players. Predictably enough, he was ineffective there. Not much joy out wide in the second half either. Maybe something will change, but it feels to me that the only way we can fit him in is to play him wide on the right, but with a back 4 and a full-back playing behind him.
People moan about McCann not being up to standard, but he`s not helped by his manager. He`s always much better when he`s allowed to play aggressively, but when the team has that passy, passive mince imposed upon it, it just doesn`t give him the best chance to use the attributes he does have.
I`m totally scunnered with this style of play. I`ll still be going most weeks next season, but I`m starting to think that most of that is because I want to keep going to football with my dad for however many years we`re still able to do it, rather than because I want to go.

Absolutely dismal display players going for the same ball resulting in a collision.
Players leaving it to one another when a ball drops between them,is this professional football we are bring asked to pay for with walk up and season ticket supporters.
No structure no goalscorers, is our top goalscore on 5 goals, players that are not up to championship standard given two year deals, makes you wonder about our current manager and coaching staff.

Utter dross today, we are sleepwalking into another season of this too as our owners seem utterly convinced McPake and Cook are the people to take us forward. Football on the park devoid of any positives today (other than a lucky clean sheet), and off the park over £1M in losses.
All the momentum of the great season from last year totally gone. And almost all of it self inflicted.

That today was shocking. Players and management sleepwalking to end of season. There was still a chance to make the play offs, albeit slim, and we didn`t go for it. Airdrie got absolutely pumped today. We win today 2 or 3 nil, it makes the last two games interesting. Really poor to see. It looked like we were playing for 0-0 from the get-go.
Our "style" of play is depressing as fook. So grim. We are well worthy of the mid-table obscurity tag. I just cannot believe how we went about that! No matter how minuscule the chance is, we should be gun-ho against dross like Queens Park at home to do everything we can to make our season worthwhile!

Another big let down again ! Thought today we would get a reaction after last week and knowing the magnitude of what this game meant today ,
A win and we would have been safe we know what division we would have been playing in .
My words are the same as Socks , I am absolutely scunnered the way we are set up every week to play,if we can see it`s not working why is Mcpake not seeing it ? is he just stubborn ? It is a sore watch week in week out !
Probably like many others I watched ICT v Raith and ICT played well and will be wondering how they lost that game , which brings me to say If we do not step up a few gears it`s going to be another hard watch , and hoping results go for us so we are safe ,
And then what about next season are we going to be served the same crap ? because most of these players are still signed and just not good enough at this level as we have seen this season, Also At present I am wondering where our next goal is going to come from ? and it`s goals that win games
We need a Result next saturday against ICT no if`s no but`s , it`s about time the team turned up an gave us something to shout about , after all through thick and thin home and away they have been well supported ,
End of Rant ! Just disappointed again

League fatigue, I think. We are probably playing the percentage game to secure championship football next season. The probability of a playoff spot was far less than the probability of relegation playoffs. Its just the position we find ourselves in. It`s disappointing for the fans, the team, and the management, no doubt, but it`s the nature of the league.

Too many times this season that I`ve been sitting watching that boring tippy- tappy crap , and wishing the ref would just blow for full time . Very few games that I`ve enjoyed .
That had the feel of a pre-season game today .
If Caley play next week , like they did on Friday, but take their chances . We could get a drubbing , and with Queens Park playing an already doomed Arbroath , the last week`s fixtures could still be interesting .

Deplorable display today. All to play for to stay afloat in this league and they managed to serve up an end of season fiasco. We were so far off it today it was unbelievable. They were sharper, fitter and hungrier across all areas of the park.
I have to question Memhet`s attitude in the dying minutes. We had 10 minutes left to ensure safety in this league and he was walking to collect the ball with absolutely no urgency whatsoever, whilst McPake was expressing urgency. Clear out required 🙄

Terrible game to watch with us looking like we were happy to draw rather than going for a win. We let them dominate the second half and, when they got their free kick at the edge of our box after a calamitous defensive foul up, I was waiting on Thomas smashing it into the top corner. Thankfully that didn`t happen. Once again, we had enough chances to win the game comfortably but squandered them all. Our lack of a forward who can score goals has been a big problem this year and has to be addressed. Lot of work to do before next season or it will be more of the same.

Agree that they were happy to take the point and play the percentage game is a good way of putting it. Anything can happen in football so to come out with that performance was a kick in the teeth for those watching it.
Mehmet arsing about at the end stalling play got my back up.
Airdrie getting spanked at Thistle as well, yes….odds were still incredibly unlikely but would’ve made next weeks game more interesting.

I really feel sorry for Kane Richie Hosler. Speed in abundance, wants to stretch defenders. Plonked into a system where neither he can serve other players or they can serve him. I look forward to next season as we need time away from the game after securing our position in the league. It is a really hard watch and the constant tinkering with tactics is not helping players.
I watched Hosler at one point where he was left midfield behind the striker having to watch his line and overthinking and what he has to do. Total torture watching talent being coached out of him.

I totally agree about KRH. Playing him there had the double effect of weakening the midfield and the attack at the same time! I would say our biggest requirement to improve is to find a creative midfielder who can also deal with the physicality of the Championship - easier said than done probably.
A few weeks ago we were more concerned about survival than anything else; now we`re more concerned about entertainment. I suppose that`s some kind of progress.

Our biggest requirement is finding a striker who will score more than 5 goals in a whole season surely?

I still think we don`t make enough clear chances to service a decent striker.

We had plenty of chances yesterday Matty tood through 1-1 McCann had a 1-1 we had at least 2 or 3 headers from about 6 yards out which we didn`t even hit the target with. The reason we are where we are is we don`t score enough. We said it yesterday if QP scored yesterday you didn`t see us scoring to get back into the game.

Todd, McCann, Kane missed the chances. Are we looking for one player who miraculously would have been there to convert them all? Would Brian Graham score as many goals for us as he does for PT?

To play devil’s advocate here, McPake’s plan was inches from success. If Kane’s late header goes in, it’s job done and we’re walking out going “that wasn’t pretty but we did what we had to do”. It was a tough old watch but stylistic misgivings are easily overcome by victory. Two more games to get over the line…

Kane had an amazing chance near the end with no-one around him and he headed it over the bar. He had time to touch it as well. Just had a feel of friendly where players aren`t really that bothered if they score or not. Really poor.

As discussed throughout this thread we certainly missed lots of chances yesterday and that this has been a feature throughout the season. We were saying yesterday first goal the winner and Queens Park did have chances they did not convert.
I was not sure about our shape yesterday and got the impression the longer the game went on we would settle for a point! Hopefully that one point will be enough to secure our position in the Championship next season. It is still in our hands. But one would expect Queens Park to score a few goals at Arbroath next Saturday. So a point or better at home to ICT next week is a must. We don’t want to be heading to Somerset Park on the last day of the season requiring a point to stay up. But as we know if their is a hard way to achieve something the Pars will do so. COYP

If my arithmetic is sound, a point against ICT is enough.

Spot on. Both teams need to win both their remaining games to catch us as well as us losing to Ayr plus QP need an 8 goal swing in their favour

If Brian Graham had played for us this season, we would be in the promotion playoffs.

We had 2 chances where we failed to hit the target from 6 yards out one of which fell to a striker. It sums up our year we just haven`t been at it.
We have the same group for next year, with Edwards the only one that looks likely to get any interest we have to make signings all over the park and Ideally get someone who can at least hit the target.
