Easton – Apparently we had a bid knocked back for him and, by the sounds of it, we’ve now moved onto other targets.
Tobi – Was offered a deal before the break but told the club he wanted the summer to mull it over. He’s been training with the squad but interestingly didn’t travel to Bulgaria.
Steven Fletcher – Seems likely to link up with the squad in Bulgaria and is expected to get some minutes in the closed door friendly. No permanent offer on the table yet, but it’s clearly one that’s being looked at closely.
Not heard anything regarding the cove keeper.

Tall guy on right is Charlie Gilmour standing next to Keith Bray…..I think.
Tall guy in middle? …..at first I thought it could be Connor Young, but he looks a bit taller, so not sure..

I’d take both over KRH without thinking twice. Although I can`t see us signing either of them.
Easton played 35 out of 36 league games, scored 13 and assisted 5 – that’s direct involvement in 18 goals and 38% of Rovers` total. Pretty tidy return for a midfielder, and his disciplinary record wasn’t bad either.
Mochrie turned out 33 times for Airdrie, bagged 7 and assisted 1 – so 8 goal contributions and 24% of their goals. Only picked up 2 bookings all season, so he’s clearly reliable on that front too.
KRH on the other hand… 26 appearances, 2 assists, and no goals. Just 7% involvement in our total goals.
No getting around it, this is a huge season for him, regardless of who comes in. He’s shown flashes, but it’s time to kick on and prove he belongs at this level.

There`s no doubt Easton has been a hugely influential player for Raith but how many of his goals are penalties? Bare statistics can be misleading.
I`m not clear why KRH is being singled out for comparison with potential signings. He`s still under contract for a year so it`s unlikely either of those players would be signed as an alternative to him.

There is no substance to this, but there are a couple of good young players who are at Aberdeen, like Alfie Bavidge and Fletcher Boyd.
I am unsure if we will go down the route of a good young player or someone with a little more experience to compliment Kane and Young.

The reason for the comparison is all three are primarily wide (attacking) players . KRH has been tried in a few different roles but, realistically, playing wide is probably where he`s most effective.
With Lennon going with a 5-3-2 last season, you`d expect more of the same again this year. That system puts a big emphasis on wingbacks or wide midfielders to offer both width and attacking threat.
As I mentioned before, I don’t think we`ll have end up signing either Easton or Mochrie, but if we’re serious about pushing for top 4, we absolutely need more from our wide players. There just hasn’t been enough consistent output from that area of the pitch.

Just a quick take on Liam Smith for anyone not too familiar with him.
He’s a solid, no nonsense right back who’s got a fair bit of experience now. Came through at Hearts and has since played regularly at a decent level. Has has succesful spells at Ayr, St. Mirren, Dundee United and Cheltenham in League One. Was part of promotion winning sides with both St. Mirren and United, so he knows what a good dressing room looks like.
Defensively he’s sound, doesn’t do anything flashy but he’s usually in the right place and keeps things simple. Fitness levels are good and he’ll run all day, but he’s not someone who’ll bomb forward and whip in loads of dangerous crosses. More of a steady 6 or 7 out of 10 most weeks than someone who’ll win you games going forward. A like for like replacement for Comrie.
Can also fill in as a wing back or even at centre half in a back three if needed. He’s not the quickest and his final ball can be hit or miss. Only played a handful of games in Ireland and might be looking for a way back home.

Unfortunately that’s one only Lennon can answer. Personally, I still think he’s a good option for us. As for Comrie, who knows? Maybe he didn’t want to stay, maybe the wages weren’t right from either side. We’ll probably never know the full story.

Tony Watt always impressed in the televised Friday night games when United won promotion from the Championship. I see he scored 13 goals in 36 League games that season and 15 in 43 appearances in all competitions. These are quite impressive stats because I wouldn`t say he was an out-and-out striker but could make chances as well.

Tony Watt always impressed in the televised Friday night games when United won promotion from the Championship. I see he scored 13 goals in 36 League games that season and 15 in 43 appearances in all competitions. These are quite impressive stats because I wouldn`t say he was an out-and-out striker but could make chances as well.
Watt looked overweight, slow and lazy last time I paid attention..
What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

Like most fans I am getting a little frustrated at the lack of signings although I know they will come eventually.
Some folk have said that we can’t sign certain players until their contracts expire end of June. Contracts for players in Scotland expired end of May I thought ?
Is it different for players on the continent as I have read it’s end of June for some ? and is that why ( if the rumours are to believed) that we can’t announce certain signings until next week?
That still does not correlate with statements from the club which if I remember correctly suggested we would get a good bit of business done early. July is not early.
There must be Scottish based players that we have/are looking at and presumably these targets have either refused an offer or are still mulling an offer over.
Most would agree that we still need another 5 ? GK, RB/RWB, LCH, LM, and striker, although there maybe one or two more coming.
Hopefully we get two or three in next week and the others I suppose can be filled during the Betfred cup games or even into August.
Need some positive news soon as it’s all getting a bit meh just now with the Pars.
What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

Scottish player contracts tend to run out at the end of May, in England it`s the end of June and I think that applies for most of Europe as well (some leagues finish in the winter and therefore contracts expire then as well).
That could be the cause of delay in announcing a few things, not just for players but perhaps the sponsorship issue Cook spoke about in his last interview as well. If we get to the Hearts game and haven`t done much else I`ll be concerned but I don`t think that`ll be the case.

I’d genuinely be more concerned if the other Championship teams that will be pushing for the top 4 were making standout signings, but so far I haven’t seen much to shout about. Nobody`s really pulled off anything that makes you sit up and take notice.
That said, if we’re still sitting with little to no movement by the second week of July, I’d be feeling a bit more like some of the others on here are just now. Still, I’ve got faith in Lennon and the board to get us where we want to be. Let’s just hope the next couple of weeks bring a bit more activity.

i believe we have a fair bit of business done/lined up but waiting on things like sponsorships etc being signed off and in a position to be announced before we announce signings. look at the coverage Wanyama got. If a sponsor misses out on that kind of coverage they would be righly miffed

#DAFC are pursuing Alfons Amade from Bulgarian First League side Septemvri Sofia (part owned by James Bord).
Amade, 25, is versatile having featured at RB and DM in his career.

Is there really going to be lots more incomings?
We managed 2 first elevens yesterday.
Mullen is like a new signing, as is Young, add Bray and Gilmour all likely to be more or less starters.
Players like both Sutherlands will be important, both Tod’s, Sam fisher Lennon should get best from these players, other youngsters like hoggan are good prospects.
Goalie, right back, forward either wide or proper front man needed to improve squad, could be incoming loans.
Would take Easton in a heartbeat he has an xfactor similar to dom Thomas

I`d be surprised if anyone from the youngsters outside of Andy Tod or Taylor Sutherland doesn`t head out on loan (might still be better if they did as well for games every week).
With the new cooperation system that has been introduced this season that could be a way of having more flexibility with sending guys out on loan to League 1 or League 2 but being able to play for the pars as and when needed and outside of the transfer window (as I understand it).
The club certainly needs to find at least 4 or 5 players that can come in as starters to replace some of the current team, we`ll see if they manage to do that

I would anticipate 3 or 4 more key signings to strengthen or cover key areas. I think you can probably boil it all down to three things
1. They are under contract and negotiation is required and ongoing over the transfer
2. Players shortly to become out of contract but until thatt happens it can`t be announced.
3. Players have been offered deals but are still weighing up their options. They may require work permits.
I would expect to see some movement early next week.

From the squad who played in the friendly. I think this is what we can expect from them.
Mehmet – Will be in the matchday squad, but I’m hoping he’s not starting as No.1. Decent back up but we need better if we’re serious about top 4.
Ngwenya – Will be in the squad.
Benedictus – Will probably be in, but the court case could change things depending on how that plays out.
Hamilton – In the squad.
Gilmour – In the squad.
Bray – Not seen him play yet but will be involved.
T. Sutherland – Likely to stay, but mainly for the reserves.
J. Sutherland – Loaned out.
KRH – Will be in the squad.
Hoggan – Loaned out.
Alfons Amade – Not seen him so can’t comment.
Demus – Same as above, untested so no judgment yet.
McLeod – Loaned out.
Mullen – Will be in the matchday squad and probably first name on the team sheet.
Fisher – Court case will determine his involvement for us.
J. Tod – Reserve level, but could be a bench option if we’re short.
Otoo – Will be involved.
Oakley – In the squad.
Todd – Part of the squad.
Cooper – Will be in the matchday squad.
C. Young – Also in the squad.
Fyfe – Will either be loaned out or play reserve football.
By my count that’s 16 players we’ve realistically got from the the friendly. Think Kane is the only notable one not mentioned?
I’m still confident Lennon will get the business done. Listening to him on Open Goal and seeing how we shaped up tactically last season, I’d expect a 5-3-2 or some tweak of it again. Whether the current group fully suits that shape is debatable, we might need a few more in to really make it click but there’s time yet and I’d rather get the right players than just fill shirts.

I was meaning 4 or 5 starters to dislodge our current team (trying to be somewhat realistic), but certainly we need the quantity you`re talking about and chances are they won`t all work out

I still think we need 7 to come in and start if we are serious about promotion.
We can’t rely on many of last seasons underperformers improving enough to propel us up the table, one or two might well kick on but the majority will give much the same output.
I’m sure Lennon is more than aware what we need and I hope the club can secure the signings he needs to get us up.

Don’t think the club will seriously challenge for promotion this season. Lennon will bring in maybe 4/5 that can go straight in the first team and should see us hopefully challenging for a playoff. Next season big clear out then we will see what will essentially be Lennons team and a big push for promotion.

We caught Easton at Pitreavie this morning. Pars have made a couple of bids that Raith have knocked back, there’s a third one on the table we believe.
Easton getting offered a chunky wage and isn’t adverse to coming. He’s an Edinburgh lad so doesn’t see the big rivalry really between the two clubs.
My take is it’s all on Raith, but their reluctance to sell to us is the fly in the ointment and likely reason why it’ll not happen.

I think one or two of the retained players might impto a meaningful degree, most not so much.
Still hoping for 7 or 8 quality signings on top of what is on the books now so we can compete for promotion. It is seeming less and less likely as time goes on though.

I’d doubt that Shelly, if we had them signed Lennon would be keen to get them involved with today’s game to get them gelling with the rest of the team.

Generally speaking, players can`t play for another club in an official capacity unless they’re either:
1. Out of contract,
2. On loan with permission to play, or
3. Have had their transfer formally completed (registered with the relevant FA).
So if a player hasn’t been officially released or their move hasn’t been finalised through the proper registration channels, they legally can’t feature for another club in a friendly or competitive match. That said, some pre contract agreements or pending deals might exist, where both clubs and the player are aligned, just waiting for contract dates or transfer windows to open.
In friendlies, you might occasionally see a trialist involved, but even that usually requires the parent club`s consent if they’re still under contract.
We might have one or two potential signings lined up whose paperwork isn’t quite over the line yet, or if they’re still technically contracted elsewhere until the end of June, they’d be unavailable today.

It is worth noting that the English contracts usually end at the end of June/start of July. It is really worrying how slow we’ve been though, with the flurry of signings in January I at least hoped we’d have been more pro-active but right now it’s not looking like it

Trust the process, and if we’re still in this position come mid July? Fair enough, raise the concerns. But right now, let’s give them the time to do it properly.

I do see both sides of the discussions here, whilst I do agree that we obviously want the right players for the way lennon wants us to play, so identifying and getting these guys in are really important. But on the other hand, where I kinda see it, is quite possibly guys in here won`t know how important a preseason actually is, not only for the body but as for a group to gel. So unless the guys we`re looking at are with clubs already doing a preseason then we`re going to be at a disadvantage straight from start of the season to the teams already with a good squad in just now. Hopefully this week brings a couple faces followed by a couple the week after. Still got the buzz about the season starting, hopefully no be let down, please!!

NL has said before that he`s not a big fan of loan deals but prefers players whose sole commitment is to the club so I wouldn`t expect a big influx of loanees.
Comparisons with the January window aren`t really valid. Most players were under contract then so the tendency was towards loan deals. Now we`re looking to sign players who are probably free to make a commitment to the club but with an eye on their financial situation.

McPake got slagged off for only signing former Dundee or St Johnstone players yet any Celtic academy player who has links with Lennon gets mentioned as folk seem to have extensive knowledge of them all of a sudden.

We need genuine experienced players who have played men’s football and who will instantly improve the starting 11.

To be honest, the current transfer window hasn’t lived up to the expectations set by Cook’s earlier statement. I know it`s still early days, but if we’re serious about progressing beyond a relegation battle, we need to bring in another 6 or 7 players, starters who can improve the squad from day one.
The core of this squad has already struggled to stay afloat in this division. If we genuinely want to challenge, the recruitment has to reflect that ambition. Right now, it’s shaping up to feel all too familiar, more of the same rather than the step forward we were told.
Really hopeful we’ll see some new signings this week, players who’ll make us all say, “This is exactly what we were promised.” There’s still plenty of time for the club to show its ambition, and if the next few additions hit the mark, it could be a real turning point for the squad. I’m staying positive, we might just be a few key signings away from something exciting.

I have a feeling we have quite a few players either earmarked or ready to sign for us at the beginning of July from further afield.
From what NL has said, the players weren’t strong/fit enough so they will hopefully be up to speed with any others we bring in. Then it’s time to gel. Top 4 finish would be excellent and no reason with a few quality signings that we can’t compete for that.

Scott Burns of the Daily Record, who is generally recognised as one of the best-informed observers of the Scottish transfer market, said last week he had no knowledge of our rumoured approaches for Dylan Easton and yet a few posters on here claim to have spoken to the player who has confirmed the rumours and expressed interest in a possible move.
That doesn`t mean it`s going to happen but it does indicate there is activity in the background. NL confirmed as much after Saturday`s game. I would imagine the more ambitious a signing is, the harder it will be to conclude it.

I am sure there is recognition by the owners and management staff alike that the previous recruitment strategies didn`t work and those lessons (if any were needed) didn`t work. NL and others have said tgat they are looking to bring in players but they have to want to come to a championship club, they may be trying to sign players rather than looking at loans that involves negotiations, and others may still be under contract. I prefer a professional approach where we do our business confidentially and professionally, avoiding rumours, setting unrealistic expectations, and disappointment. At the end of the day, nothing is certain until they sign on the dotted line. I suspect this week we will see some movement.

The Championship pair have both declared an interest in the 33-year-old.
Moult is a free agent after he left Dundee United in the summer.

- an Easton or a Moult would be very good .... my gut tells me we have something up our sleeve - Lennon wants "plenty more" and "quality too".
The sponsor announcement and strip launch on Friday will have a well kent face ready to hit the socials.
I wont be too surprised if it takes another couple of weeks to get some of our "paying a fee for them" targets though eg Raith would want to be sure of a replacement to sell us Easton.

Ofcourse he isn’t, but as mentioned, it indicates that despite press not reporting on it, there is something going on between the two clubs at the moment.
Whether it will materialise into anything, who knows.

It was hot, it was really humid and there was a lot of cardiovascular work, a lot of physical work. I’m really pleased with the way the staff have integrated and the way the players have adapted to what we’ve asked of them.”
The trip proved valuable beyond just the physical preparation, with team bonding being a key focus.

3 potential signings are known to have been training with the club 2 we know were in Bulgaria.

Even more pressing, only two weeks until the cup game against Hearts, and you know Lennon will be desperate to make a statement.
Cook talked about bringing in the kind of players who’ll push us forward, but right now, that ambition isn’t reflected on the pitch, or in the squad list. I don’t think season ticket sales are great either, with fans likely holding off until they see real evidence the club means business.

Agree. It’s certainly looking grim. I also have doubts about some of the players we’ve resigned. Time will tell I suppose.

We’re doomed! Doomed! I tell you.
However I do agree, it isn’t great, but I forever hold out hope.
My thoughts are we need to give the guys a chance in the new season as they are a year older, wiser to the league and confidence is a wonderful thing.
The main thing is the words excited the fans and the delivery so far doesn’t match those words, but we still have to play a competitive game, so let’s see how it pans out.

10 days away from a televised cup game , and our squad looks little different from last seasons s**t show . Even if we do unveil a decent signing on Friday, they`re not exactly going to be integrated with the rest of the guys . Think the PR guys have had an absolute nightmare . AGAIN !

I’ve stayed fairly positive throughout the off-season, but today I’ve really started to feel frustrated by the lack of quality, both within the current squad and in terms of new signings. We’ve definitely got some exciting young talent in the ranks, Andy Tod, Connor Young, and the new lad Keith Bray, but the lack of attacking depth and still no back-up keeper is concerning. When Lennon came in, I saw it as a real statement of intent from the club, a sign we were aiming higher. But since his arrival, I’ve seen little to suggest next season will be any different.

Season Ticket sales are reflective of the squad. A couple of good signings early would have been great for numbers but since we’ve been basically lied to by the Germans for 7 years I get the feeling a lot of Pars fans just aren’t taking BS anymore.

The squad right now is arguably weaker than last season. We`ve done well to move on a lot of the deadwood, but in doing so we`ve left ourselves frighteningly short in numbers. I’ve tried to stay positive, thinking signings will come, but the radio silence and lack of real activity is starting to become a concern.
Looking at what we’ve got, it’s a young inexperienced group, and while there’s talent, they’re nowhere near ready to push us into a top 4 fight. I’ve still got faith in Lennon but the bigger issue is that we can’t get players in the door. And we haven’t been able to for a while now, bar a panic spree in January which lacked any real quality bar mullen.
So the question has to be asked,have we fallen so far that we`re just not seen as an attractive option anymore? Clubs like Livi, St Johnstone, even Raith seem to have more pull in the current market. Is it financial? Is it reputation? A bit of both?
The longer this drags on without a signing that lifts the quality of the squad, the more these questions will get louder. And if this window goes the same way as the last few, then Mr. Cook’s going to have some seriously tough questions to answer from the fans and the board. As the CEO the buck will stop at him.
Here’s hoping things look a lot brighter by the end of the week. Because right now, it’s hard not to feel a bit uneasy.

Livi may have more of a pool as playing at a higher level. St Johnstone have signed 3 raith players from their "big" season 2 years ago when they made the playoffs. Again not 1 of them is a "wow id love him at the pars".

Jamie Gullan – a wide player who would walk into our side considering we have no width.
Sam Stanton – isn`t any worse than what we have currently.

I wouldn’t be against us going for Sam Stanton or Jamie Gullan, both solid players. Outside of St Johnstone and Ross County, I don’t think any Championship club has made what you’d call real ‘quality’ signings. Fair enough, it’s still early in the window, but with the season kicking off just four weeks after the club’s end-of-season statement, I - like many others, expected a bit more urgency.
That said, maybe I’ve taken the messaging too literally. It was billed as a big summer where we’d ‘have a go,’ so naturally expectations were raised. Of course, we could wake up tomorrow to five new signings unveiled at the opening day, and it would all change in an instant. But given how our previous windows have played out, this is all starting to feel frustratingly familiar.
I was feeling positive, right up until yesterday, when I clearly got myself a bit worked up. All we can do now is wait and see what happens. One thing I do trust, though, is that with Neil Lennon at the helm, the standards will be there.

If we were waiting until July 1st to confirm signings, I don’t understand the whole secrecy and waiting to announce them. What it makes me think being a delay so far, is that we don’t actually have anyone signed. That is what is worrying.
People keep going on that theres plenty of time etc - but pre season training is vital to a squad, both for fitness and for “integration”. We have 2 friendlies left before our season begins next Saturday v Hearts. The League Cup isn’t a warm up, its a competition we should be aiming to get to knockouts in.
It’s starting to feel a lot like last summer right now……

Its worrying if we are throwing our eggs in a basket of wonder signings or youngsters for the future rather than experienced pros at this level that can improve us instantly. And if we aren’t turning our noses up at this lot and being beaten to them by others then thats also concerning.

If there are no new faces today/tomorrow then even the most patient Pars fans will start getting twitchy.
Season ticket sales are at 2600. A couple of signings that get people excited will boost sales considerably.
I do find it strange that we have not added any quality yet but as others have said I don’t think Lennon would have signed on without being promised a considerable war chest.
The buck stops with DC. Fans will be looking for answers if we go into the Hearts game with our current squad. Imagine starting a season with only one recognised first team keeper? I mean what club would ever do that ?
What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

Willie Miller touched on this on Sportsound last week. He mentioned that a lot of clubs prefer to sign and announce players in July so the deals fall into the next financial year. The idea is that it helps present stronger accounts to shareholders and investors, essentially making the books look better. That was the gist of it anyway.
I’m still not panicking, and I don’t buy into the idea that we’ve “missed out” on players. There are loads of factors at play here. Sure, every manager wants their signings in early, but the reality is that it rarely works out that way. Across Scottish football right now, you’ve got clubs trying to reshape their squads, yet the transfer window has been relatively quiet.

can have the money but that doesnt mean the players they are after will come, especially if they are aiming too high which is what happened in league 1. same as back then far too many questions that will unlikely be answered, this one should be but a name that has been overlooked all summer is John Colquhoun and his involvement seeing as he was apparently responsible for the deals in January, where is he in all of this?
the next club update will no doubt call for more patience and emphasising the window has another 2 months to go, thatll go down well.

This isn`t a quote from NL but from the new manager of Motherwell on their return from a training camp in the Netherlands. It`s pretty clear most clubs are still finalising their squads and this tends to have a domino effect down the Leagues, especially if you`re trying to recruit quality players.

To be fair, it`s not just us struggling to get in the players we want. I follow the Newcastle forum too and they are in the exact same position. They`ve apparently got around 160 million to spend but they are getting outbid by other clubs (especially Weyland Yutchelsea) and other players they want are getting hit with a `Saudi tax`, turning a 40 million player into a 60 million player.
The fans on their forum are just as antsy as the fans on here.

The worrying thing is, Ayr, raith, RC and StJ all started the window with stronger squads than us and have strengthened. As things stand we are far behind them. I’m hoping we get quality in quickly.

I'm sure quality will come in. There are issues beyond our understanding that can govern timing. We are left to ponder and fret if we so choose.
The problem with the forum under these circumstances, is a plethera of repetitive posts with nothing new to read.
Limited action means limited comments.
It is boring the tits off me though. Reading the same comment from the same people over and over again
I hope something happens soon and we can change the tune.

OF THE PLAYERS I KNOW, he’s the only one that has joined a Championship club that I am envious of. Ok, had we of signed Thomas and Tumilty, I would have said they were decent additions but I’m not bothered that we didn’t.
For me, it’s seeing where we are when we finish the window, rather than being annoyed now. Plenty of opportunities to bring in quality or it could be another window where we don’t. No point in losing our sh-t when there’s still about 2 months to go.

You look at the players the other teams have signed, not much we have missed out on. Wouldn`t have minded Dec Gallagher and Ross Docherty, but they are both getting on a bit as well, so not too fussed about them either. I wouldn`t be bothered about being landed with some of the other players that have been signed.
We`ve got Charlie Gilmour, Keith Bray and youngster Zeke Cameron. It`s a start, I`m sure there will be more quality coming in

I`m as frustrated as anyone about the lack of activity and kit day. If it stays as it is I will be incredibly disappointed after cooks statement of intent a couple months ago and if it comes to it he should answer to that.
However, as poorly run as the club comes across at times the one thing that from the outside appears to be infinitely better is the squads preseason this year, Bulgaria, Stirling Uni and a level of consistency and professionalism from a strong back room team. You get the feeling NL won`t allow any outside noise to affect the group which is the most important thing.
As it stands the hearts game could be a shambles and the league cup absolutely should be a main target for a club like us, it`s that lack of ambition for years that`s led us to where we are.
But football changes very quickly and 5/6 new signings in the next week or two will flip it on its head but one things for sure they absolutely need to get something positive out to the fans asap.

Deniz Mehmet is our only goalie. We’ve added 3 first team players. We really needed to as 5 or 6 not including a goalie.
Folk are frustrated because the guys who are experienced in the league and consistently compete in the top half of the league are signed up to other clubs. The guys who were looking good (Temulty for example) - signed up.
We know the local market is already rather thin. It makes us skeptics about how well we’ll do in an international market if you can call it that

George Oakley was a big target for Mcpake whilst he was a free agent. The Germans basically told him we weren’t paying for the wages tho. He’d command a decent fee from Ayr now but would improve us greatly.
Oli shaw could surely be got relatively cheaply, Hamilton are skint.

I’m also surprised that Oli Shaw is still at Hamilton. That said, I suspect the contract he signed just weeks before the financial issues came to light is probably the main reason he’s still there.
I wouldn’t be shocked if there’s been some interest from other clubs and I would be surprised if we hadn’t. He showed in the early part of last season that he can be an asset. But against us? Aside from missing an open goal, he didn’t really stand out in front of goal, but always looked lively

i took wide areas to mean wing back options, ideally for me right back who could play right wing back and a left winger who could play deeper if required. that would give you more options if the system was changed, a bigger striker would be useful too as something different to what is already here.
think if Davidson signs it will be more as a "development" player short term, i still hope a proper left sided centre half comes in as well then can look at who you could loan out.

We are still desperately missing the type of player that Easton would have been for us.
No point bringing in other 2 strikers when what we really need is players who can supply them and have the quality to beat a man and get in behind. Dom was the last player we had who was good enough to get you out your seat and it’s been 3 seasons of grinding ever since.
Think Lennon will know this though so hopefully there’s some quality coming in and even better if it’s perhaps not the usual Scottish journeyman working thier way down.

Genuine question, what is this stat/what are these numbers?
At first, I thought mins per goal. But there’s no way Matty Todd scored a goal every 30 mins. It’s definitely not goals/90 mins. Chris Kane didn’t score 110 goals for every 90 mins played.

I think it`s two different stats. The first digit or two digits is the number of goals scored, and the decimal figure is the goals per game.

Read a few comments on one of the forums/social media that he didn’t look any better than Mehmet in his half at EK. I wasn’t there, so I can’t comment.
Lennon and Co have obviously had a good look over the couple of weeks he was in and decided to look elsewhere.

When Ian Brunskill said that they would use the league cup games to get a few more new players in I didn`t appreciate the rules had been changed this year. So, unlike other years and in the group section only each team can play two trialists per game. It was a stupid rule given the timing of these games. I cant see Pars playing any trialists against Hearts on the tv in case they play a blinder and alert anyone but you never know.

it isnt Davidson who was talked about later, still talking to his agents but hopeful that will happen, this is someone else.
maybe its the player Scott Burns was on about last week which was posted earlier in the thread.

As per Mark Pirie in the Daily Record Sport:
Dunfermline Athletic have bid for Dundee United striker Rory MacLeod.
The Pars have tabled an offer for the talented teenager.
They are waiting to see if they can strike an agreement.
It is understood the clubs aren’t too far away on terms and United would also get decent add-ons.
The Scotland youth cap has just returned from a loan spell with Southampton.
Pars boss Neil Lennon is keen to give MacLeod first-team exposure.
United are entitled to compensation after he came through their academy.
They offered MacLeod a new deal when he returned from St Mary’s.
Macleod has previously been a target for Fulham.
The Pars have been looking to buy some of the best young talent from around Scotland.

Yes agree. He is older, matured a bit, gained experience with Southampton at under 21. Is the right age for development. At his age consistent 1st team experience will benefit him. Rorys best position is off the main striker either as a attacking midfielder or second striker
He was unfortunate with the Fulham more as they had everything agreed but pulled the plug at the last minute, I`m sure it was to cover themselves with the FFP at the time
When he came back to Utd, he got a bad injury then the loan to Forfar was a struggle due to not getting up to full fitness
Definitely benefited from the loan to Southampton under 21s, even though he would have preferred more game time
If he is fully fit, I hope he can kick on at EEP, he certainly has the potential

Lennon has said that he wanted more development players brought in. The development players all seem to be a fit closer to first team than our current academy players.
I think Davidson will be similar to Cameron and MacLeod. Teenagers but will probably see them used as back up to the experienced players and also playing in the reserve team.

The new owners are obviously keen to try and develop players who will command a transfer fee in the future. This should not be at the detriment of the first team.

Its not about knowing how business works - the club is 4 days away from its opening fixture and theres still no kits been launched - that is shambolic. One of our biggest revenue streams is currently making £0 for the club.
We may well make some signings, but it will now take a few weeks to get them up to speed and integrated. Not ideal when league starts in 3 weeks time.

If it wasn’t the fault of the club, then surely the club would have come out and passed the blame on to either the manufacturers or the shirt printers? The silence speaks for itself at the minute.
I agree da_no_1 - that may change if we pull out some worldy signings, or Lennon gets a real tune out of a squad full of under-performers and youngsters. But at the minute I can’t see us finishing top half as it stands.

Signing policy failed under the Germans and failed in January but here we are on rinse and repeat.
Our two biggest revenue streams in pre season are kit sales and season tickets. It would take a fool to argue that both haven’t been chaotic and shambolic.
Another potential money spinner early season is getting out the groups of the League Cup. See Falkirk last season or Raith the season before. We seem quite happy just treating them as glorified pre season friendlies.
Excitement of a fresh start has been sooked right out of me and several others so it seems.
Cue a barrage of abuse and insults coming my way because I’m not delighted at the way things are going

Agree totally. The club do need to regularly communicate with clear deliverable information irrespective of whether it is bad news or not. The first game is on Saturday and if there is to be no new shirts then so be it, but for gods sake communicate it to the customers.
Bad things do happen in business but the measure of the business is how to get out of the hole created.
Currently it is not great to be fair, but still time to recover it.

Some of the posters are right to tell it as it is regarding the strips and signings.
On the one hand the signings so far are similar to previous windows, fairly uninspiring. On the other hand I might change my mind when the signings are completed, we`ll see.
Despite what Lenny says, he can`t be overly happy.
Listening to the EK game I heard him giving it `ffs` loads of times, but after the game he was saying he`s happy, so he tells whoever listens what he wants, that`s the way of it.
As regards the strips, it looks amateur but what do I know

I don`t disagree, but in terms of signings, I think Amade might well be inspiring this season. He could end up being the best centre mid we have had in many years. Way too early to say for sure, but he has had a promising start, albeit in relaxed friendlies.

Re the lack.of experienced signings, could it be we have other `foreign` signings lined up but they involve a bit of red tape (like Amade) which might explain the delay in finalising them? There`s a pervasive `blame culture` on here but sometimes you just have to accept the system is bureaucratic and you can`t control it. Even if we are targeting UK players there may be a few dominoes that have to fall before they become available.

I’m more confident we are moving in the right direction however I’ll reserve judgment until I start seeing competitive football. I think Gilmour could be a great signing and the early signs with Amade are good. I would still like to see another 2 or 3 good first team signings however.
It does look like we are building a squad as much for title challenges the season after rather than this season which I’m fine with if we can be competitive this season.
Last 2 seasons have been horrendous, I found last season really difficult to watch. I’m trying not to drag that negativity around this season.
I’m more confident having Neil Lennon in charge, I think he’s a proper manager. A good football man and will get the best out of the players

I think there`s a tangible difference but I understand why people are frustrated. The "always on" culture where you`re seeing the minutiae of every single rival club means you`re comparing your own club to many, many others. Anyone with even a basic grasp of psychological pitfalls can see where that leads.
The new ownership have hired a serious management team, fixed the pitch and signed several promising players (Young, Bray, Gilmour) on permanent deals (I`m not counting Mullen) and might have found a gem in Amade. Yes, we`d like to see some more experienced players in the door but easier said than done and takes time.
The strip is a separate matter and yes, it`s a bad look.

Margetts was under age, but we had Lewis Briggs at the club whom they named on the bench for the Livingston and Falkirk championship games.
The limited reserve games he (TM) was involved in last year suggest there`s development to be made (and he is young enough particularly as a GK to do so) before he is at back up standard.

It was good to hear NL telling them to go forward. It takes a little time to wean the more established players off the previous playing style. EF tried the offside tactic. No doubt we will face similar tactics in the championship so the forwards need to be timing their runs better. We have more pace and direction up front. Add to that Chris Kane and a couple of other strikers and we have a squad capable of getting in the mix at the top. I hope Deniz has worked on coming out more and his ball distribution. The rest of his game is good. If so, he is good enough for me, and just needs to get more game time. We do need another keeper in though as Margets is still developing. Good to see NL gave him the opportunity to come on last 10 minutes.

Developing players isn`t a bad thing. But I won`t be excited by it. Bryne is the only player who we have developed who has sustained a FT career, and he needed to be let go and further developed by livi. Jordon white would be the other who again needed to be let go, try Ireland(before it European money massively boosted it) fail, go PT and take a few years before getting back to establishing at FT and getting decent bottom end premiership minutes. I don`t see much from the current crop where they can demand a higher status than those guys, and they are the absolute best we`ve developed.
I am also very unhappy about the story/fantasy that GMBH tried to sell that somehow a developed player was better than a new player even if the outside player was better, it was and always will be ****** stupid. So whilst I`d like to develop youngsters, a winning team is way way more important and unless the youngster is an exceptional talent, that normally means we should have an experienced player in front of them.

Hamilton have just sold two 16 year-olds down South and I don`t think either had played for the first team. Celtic signed a young guy from Morton. English clubs and some from farther afield seem to be taking a real interest in the Scottish market again. Rory MacLeod who we`re supposed to be interested in spent last season on loan from DU to Southampton.

I`m old enough to remember us developing McNamara and selling for a club record fee of £600k 30 years ago. One or two even half as good as that and we are suddenly financing a complete squad overhaul.
As far as I can see, noone is saying that a few promising youngsters means we no longer need several more established players. Above all, our manager is not saying that. I know there is the possibility of getting some revenue from this cup if we progress a little, but really this year it will be essentially pre-season. I fully expect Hearts to beat us comfortably, but it will be good experience for our current squad. I also expect we will be a much stronger squad and unit once the league starts.

Of course they are, youngsters heads will always be turned by the SPL and what they can promise them!
However, if we can get in and cement our place in the top league then we’ll be able to do that, we’ll be able to attract decent talent! I’ve said it before that the academy is a good idea if you are in the top division, when you are struggling in lower divisions it’s a weight around your neck!

I`ve just had a look at the PFA Scotland website. The `trial match` is the culmination of a week`s training where the players do physical work etc. Kevin Rutkiewicz is one of the coaches. The players also have sessions where they are made aware of other job skills and opportunities. I`m not sure if it`s just a one-week thing or is ongoing during the close season. I think it may be a `free` benefit of being a PFA member.

It will probably be a direct competition with KRH. One starts, other makes the bench. I`m all for this signing to be honest. I’ve never really been convinced by KRH at RWB, doesn’t look natural there and it’s shown any time he’s been asked to play it. We’ve been crying out for proper depth or even just a more reliable option in that role, so bringing someone in makes total sense. If nothing else, it puts pressure on KRH to either adapt quickly or he will be on the bench.

Without wanting to be too harsh on him, KRH has done very little of note for the past 2 seasons, hence quite chuffed at a replacement.
For a RWB he very rarely gets past a defender and most games pass him by. IMO we need better than him especially forbthe money he is allegedly on.

Dunfermline are closing in on a hat-trick of signings – including Cliftonville wing-back Shea Kearney.
The Pars are understood to be finalising a move for Kearney, with the Northern Ireland U/21 cap expected to travel over to Scotland ahead of Saturday’s Premier Sports Cup opener against Hearts,
The 21-year-old, who is contracted to Cliftonville until 2027, is highly rated in his homeland and had previously been linked with interest from clubs in England.
However, Dunfermline appear to have won the race for the youngster, who played in the UEFA Conference League on Tuesday night against St Joseph’s in Gibraltar.
Kearney looks set to be joined by Dundee United forward Rory MacLeod in making the move to East End Park.
Talks between the clubs have been progressing over recent weeks after the Pars targeted the 19-year-old, who was loaned out to Southampton last season.
It is believed an agreement could be close.
And, with boss Neil Lennon determined to beef up his squad before the start of the Championship campaign, Alasdair Davidson is poised to be the third new recruit.
The freed Celtic youngster has been training with Dunfermline since the return for their pre-season preparations and has featured in all of the warm-up friendlies.
Lennon said after last weekend’s 3-1 win over Kelty Hearts that discussions were on-going with the 19-year-old and his representatives.
Lennon: ‘Not a million miles away’ from signings
When he addressed the media on Thursday, the Pars manager refused to go into details over what could be a busy end to the week in his recruitment drive.
But the Northern Irishman appeared confident deals will be finalised.
“We were hoping to have a couple in today [Thursday], but logistics and negotiations are still ongoing,” explained Lennon.
“I don’t think we’re a million miles away. So, I’m hoping that we’ll have at least two more in the building tomorrow.”
Asked if the players could go straight into the squad to face Hearts, he added: “One might. He’s already played a few games, so obviously we’ll have to assess him tomorrow if he’s here.”
Meanwhile, with a number of trialists expected over the coming days and weeks, Lennon has revealed he is keen on adding TWO new goalkeepers to his squad for the season ahead.
“We’ve got a goalkeeper in today to have a look at, and obviously we’re in talks about goalkeepers,” he said.
“We’ve got a list as long as your arm, and it’s imperative that we get at least one. I’d like two, between now and the start of the league campaign.

It seems like more thought is going into the recruitment of the young players now as opposed to the scatter gun approach at Christmas.
If we can compliment them with 2/3 experienced players then we could be looking at a very good squad.

I see Kearney`s agent is Consilium Sports Group, Jackie McNamara`s group. They have quite a few players from our division on their books, half the Airdrie squad, Andrew and John Tod, former Pars like David Wotherspoon, Kyle Turner, Chris Mochrie and Rhys McCabe and the likes of Dylan Easton, Josh Rae.
(I always remember that agents name as it sounds a bit like Blockchain specialists, Coinsilium, who I`ve been making an absolute killing on buying and selling shares over the last few years)

I think loan deals will be looked at if we can’t get the right targets in with permanent deals. Sometimes you just need to be flexible if things aren’t falling into place. Loans are great if they’re players that actually improve the starting 11. No point bringing someone in on loan just for the sake of it. Needs to be someone that can come in and make a difference, especially in the spine or key areas we`re still light.

I feel the number of loan signings last year was counter intuitive. It was more a response to our performances and league position. Far better to be more strategic, get a team together at the start of the season of signed players and work with them to improve them.

Amade is an internationalist who has played at a pretty high level, Gilmour has also played in the Premiership and both have played plenty of first team games. Lennon has confirmed they are still looking to get experienced bodies in, think folk need to be patient for those moves to materialise.

I think we have done some good business. A good mix of players and importantly with enthusiasm to play the game, with the right attitude. Players on the cusp of first team football, who want to play, and be given the opportunity to play will give a good positive vibe and build morale. We start with a clean slate this season and I think we have the makings of a good squad to be up there competing. The proof will be in the pudding. A big test tomorrow, but cometh the hour cometh the man.

Does anyone ever read the posts by Hunter78, and think to themselves, here is someone that is used to being on the gravy train under the old sponsors, doesn`t really even support the Pars, now the free hospitality has dried up, he`s just constantly looking to put the boot into anything the club does? Does anyone ever read the posts by Hunter78, and think to themselves, here is someone that is used to being on the gravy train under the old sponsors, doesn`t really even support the Pars, now the free hospitality has dried up, he`s just constantly looking to put the boot into anything the club does? Anyone? Or is it just me?
Honestly, reading this forum would be soul destroying (if I actually was the sort of person that gave a hoot what total no marks on the internet have to say). Even signing two young players from Premiership clubs has folk frothing at the mouth that they aren`t good enough
Absolutely nothing to do with the old sponsors or club, I’ve had a ST since 1988 and have again, probably been to more games than you have! To suggest we’ve got a squad yet that’s even remotely as good as others is crazy. Read the comments on the young lad from Utd, nearly all fans say he was never going to play as miles off it.
They better get 3/4 experienced players in either on loan or signed or it’ll be another long wretched season

Another 2 players who haven’t really played any senior men’s football. Let’s built a maybe team for 4 years from now, we used to be able to sign premier league players and players from bigger clubs with experience (Clark, Higgy, Cardle, Gibson etc). This is a mess.

The very millisecond I see a glaring grammatical or spelling error, I realise that its just a monkey bashing away at a keyboard, and softly chuckle to myself.
I`m chuffed to bits with all the talented youngsters coming in. The Scottish Championship isn`t exactly a super high standard league, so if they`re good enough they`ll play.
I have confidence that the manager will get us a decent goalkeeper and a bit of experience upfront.
I can accept people`s frustration that not every exact piece is in place for the league cup, but our aim was always going to be 2nd after Hearts. We`re hopefully good enough to do that, and, we may have those signings in place after Hearts. It`s just unlucky that we play them first.

You`re entitled to your opinion buddy and have obviously seen many a high and low (we started following the club in the same year) but I can`t be getting on board with that level of negativity.
We`ve signed bags of potential on permanent deals, good management team, new pitch, invested in data analysis and sports science backroom team, season tickets are up. Even relatively minor things like new catering on the horizon and alcohol trial.
We`re on the up.

I`ll think you`ll find most said he undoubtedly had talent but needed to change his attitude , not miles off it
Frustrations in a young person can lead to annoyance and with a manager like Goodwin , that can be managed badly
Hopefully Neil Lennon has the better credentials to work with him

Glad we have got more players in the door, the three of which are certainly rated with potential. Would like the train to keep on rolling though and to bring in 3-4 bigger names. Ones that will bring a more experienced and level head to the squad to compliment these guys.
Positive moves today though and £100k on one of them is significant!

Really pleased so far, as the above post says, were definitely on the up-certainly in the right direction.
The league cup? I`m happy for us to try out different things, even if it means we don`t do well, being ready for the league is key for me, and no, I`m not expecting us to charge at the top-just a season where we are pushing for a play off spot is great progress.
As for previous experienced players we signed-well some of them were an absolute ball ache to have at the club, were done with grown men that haven`t organised their life properly -due diligence is more important, I don`t want guys phoning in sick then posting on Facebook from a foreign city, don`t want guys with terrible recreational habits (who only played well 1/10 games) and no disrupters just because they can`t keep up, and above all no player with constant `niggles` now we have proper analysis there`s no excuses.
Record multiple sponsorships, a group of very promising young (fit) players signed, a new pitch, top management team, it seems Cook is doing fine.
