Morton 4 -2 Dunfermline Athletic
Sat, 29th Dec 2012
The Pars’ miserable Christmas continued with a 4-2 reverse at the hands of high-flying Morton. An early Morris goal was cancelled out by Bachirou just before the break. Tidser and Weatherson had the home team two goals clear, and although Wallace reduced the lee-way, Tidser capped a fine performance with his second goal late on.

Falkirk used the old Muhammad Ali trick of “rope a dope” to win a game that they looked to be losing on the judges scorecard in the Boxing Day derby at East End Park. The Pars had more of the ball, most of the chances and more reasons to question some of the decisions made as Blair Alston took one of the few chances Falkirk created to take all three points back over the Kincardine Bridge.

Hamilton set their stall out straight from kick-off to make it hard for the Pars, and their plan nearly worked to perfection as they spurned two late chances to win this. Stevie May had finished their first attacking move and although Barrowman soon equalised from Dargo’s cut-back, chances were scarce and a draw was probably just about right.

It’s never a good thing when you come away from a game debating the officialing but this was the case after Callum Morris’ early red card was followed up by a later booking for diving for Dargo when awarding a spot-kick seemed the more obvious decision. Barrowman’s last minute penalty following Barr’s red card was little consolation after goals from Garcia Tena and Mullen had put Livi out of sight.

Dunfermline beat Partick Thistle for the first time in three outings this season, progressing to the fifth round of the Scottish Cup after Andrew Barrowman’s first half header proved to be the only goal of the game. With the Jags reduced to 10 men after a “last man” incident in the first half, the Pars spurned several chances to put the game beyond the reach of the hosts, and had Paul Gallacher to thank for saving a second half penalty. Barrowman turned villain after picking up two quick yellow cards in the dying seconds but the Pars clung on and hope for a money spinning tie in the next round.
