New Pars Signing Kanes Where He Feels Wanted

Date: Friday, 24th May 2024

Dunfermline Athletic have made their first signing ahead of Season 2024-2025, despite Season 2023-2024 not being completed yet! The Pars have moved quickly to snap up loan striker Chris Kane, who will join permanently from St Johnstone when his contract expires next week.

Athletic helped the forward regain full fitness following a tough season on the sidelines with the Saints, prior to linking up with James McPake`s men at KDM Group East End Park.

Craig Levein`s side – who narrowly missed out on the Play-Offs thanks to goal difference – let go a player who knows where the back of the net is and his contributions in his initial short stint in West Fife was crucial in helping the West Fifers consolidate in the Championship.

With a strike rate of 5 goals in 10 matches, the future looks bright for Athletic if they can keep the experienced front-man fit. Kane has been quick to relocate following his release from the Perth Club, but he didn`t spend long thinking about where to move next as he knew exactly where home was come the end of the 23/24 campaign and has swiftly committed his future to the Pars for the next 24 months.

However, whenever new players come in, it generally means others have to leave to balance the books. In this instance, 6 players` contracts were due to expire and those lads have now been told they will not be remaining at the Football Club. Thanks go to Jake Rennie, Michael Beagley, Max Little, Miller Fenton, Alex Jakubiak and Paul Allan.

Thanks should also go to all the loan players who will be returning to their Parent Clubs too: Ben Summers, Own Moffat, Xavier Benjamin, Miles Welch-Hayes, Brad Holmes and Malachi Fagan-Walcott; the contribution of Harry Sharp should also not be forgotten, who departed during the Winter Transfer Window as his loan stint from Dundee came to an end.

Now, Dunfermline Athletic will continue to prepare for next term, with the hope further signings can be made to strengthen the squad and continue the upward trajectory under the stewardship of James McPake.
