DAFC.net buy-out
Author: Brian Duncan Date: Friday, 1st Apr 2005After all the hard work on DAFC.net over the last 7 years we have just been bought out to run Aberdeen`s new web site
Football is a funny old game and it is surprising how things turn out.
I`m moving to a new job in Aberdeen starting in May and bumped into Jimmy Nicholl on Union Street a couple of weeks ago.
Willie Miller then called me again later that week to discuss a proposition he had. As we had worked well with the `two Jimmy`s` while they were at Dunfermline he suggested that DAFC.net could move to a much bigger club and work with them again. He offered to buy DAFC.net domain and run it for Aberdeen (at present we`re thinking of Dons - Aberdeen FC). Having thought about it for a few days it makes sense, we all have to move on sooner or later.
Suffice to say that DAFC.net will shut down today at noon sharp.
To soften the blow from the transfer money I received I will give £5,000 of it to the next editor of a Dunfermline Fans web site, so any budding web site guru`s let me know if you are interested and I`ll forward your names on. That way it will make it much easier to get a new web site up and running for next season.
I will be sad to leave Dunfermline but I`m sure the DAFC fans will pick themselves up and continue with a bigger and better web site, but I will look forward to working with Jimmy Calderwood again (and hopefully getting another European trip again next season).
However, the new webmasters should pay particular attention to the forum as it has deteriated again recently with comments and innuendo from many anonymous posters. I definately won`t allow this to happen on our new Aberdeen web site.
I wish you all the best for the future.
[1st April, 12.30 - sadly the buy-out has fallen through, as has the `job` offer in Aberdeen, so we will have to keep the site going for a bit longer - Brian]
