DAFC Kit - supply and demand
Date: Wednesday, 16th Nov 2011DAFC have apologised for the lack of this years kit but put it down to supply and demand
DAFC have provided a reason for the lack of kit in the club shop recently and its certainly a very understandable decision to make considering the old-stock still left in the shop.
Over the past few years, DAFC Retail sales have fallen and fallen, lower sales every year we were in SFL; and football retail sales have fallen across all Scottish and English clubs over the past few years, not only for DAFC.
We have to place the following season`s kit order in the November of the pre-ceding year, and looking at all previous season`s kit still to be sold through at that time - we still have stock of 09/10 and 10/11 kit even now, with many items now on sale below our own cost price - so money that we paid out in 2009, has still not been recovered through retail sales.
With that background, we reduced our order of kit for this season; DAFC cannot risk spending money on kit that does not sell through
The supplier requires a minimum order of 1000 units - this is a low minimum order for football kit - , with part payment having to be made before that order is processed, and looking at sell through patterns from June 11 to Nov 11 this year, we would not sell a further 1000 units through - even taking into account a possible uplift for Christmas sales - , so further DAFC money would be paid out with no guarantee of monies, or profit, coming back in for that order.
Basically our orders are driven by demand, we have had really low demand over the past few years, including this year, so we really need more people like yourself buying and wanting to buy kit to help drive sales
I`m really sorry its affected [people] on an individual basis but hope you can understand the reasoning behind, and that you would consider some of the DAFC Leisurewear ranges or the 2011 Champions Commemorative shirt as alternatives?
