SPL2 it is then ?

Author: Brian Duncan Date: Friday, 13th Jul 2012

With the 30 SFL clubs in attendance at Hampden and the VOTE taking place it seems the `wee` clubs are not going to be intimidated or bullied.

After weeks of delay the SFL meeting takes place today with quite a number of clubs nailing their colours to the mast - Newco to Division 3. It does seem that the meeting is behind closed doors and a possible secret ballot ?

With the extremely embarrassing outburst by Craig Burley in the Sunday Mail, that made him look a complete idiot (there may well be a small number of fans who use website forums for their own agendas, DAFC.net is no stranger to that) but if anything the last few weeks has shown the vast majority of fans do have a single voice on whether there is any integrity left in our sport.

The only outcome today is that Newco will be allowed into SFL3, however we are then glossing over the normal procedure for applying for membership. Anything other than this will give major ructions in Scottish Football. What then will Regan and Doncaster have to preside over ?

Should the outcome today be an SPL2, then I believe that the fans will have none of this. In fact Reagan and Doncaster must be taken to account and shipped out and taken miles away from Scottish Football.

Money seems to be the prime mover for these gentleman, but money for whom ? It certainly can`t be the SFL clubs as there is little money there already. So that leaves money for the SPL clubs, so why should the SFL clubs ensure that the clubs like `old rangers` who lived and spent well beyond their means be allowed to thrive ?

If it`s down to money why are people who are on the breadline supporting football clubs who pay players wages at £20,000 to £50,000 A WEEK ?? OK, that is only the top club(s) in the league but top footballers are still getting many times the wages than those who actually pay their wages. perhaps its time for realignment.

The teams at the bottom end of the league structure are on minimal wages (if any) and thus can`t normally compete against teams at the top, especially if those at the top have unfair advantages. This isn`t part of the argumant, but shows the gulf between the top and the bottom of the league. When you get down to the lower leagues they are living hand-to-mouth. Craig Burley would shut these clubs down, but these clubs are part of their community so taking them away is an incredibly stupid idea.

quote: Armageddon (from Hebrew: הַר מְגִדּוֹ‎, Har Megiddo, lit. Mount Megiddo; Ancient Greek: Ἁρμαγεδών Harmagedōn,[1][2] Late Latin: Armagedōn[3]) is, according to the Bible, the site of a battle during the end times, variously interpreted as either a literal or symbolic location. The term is also used in a generic sense to refer to any end of the world scenario.

We also have to revisit (or the fraud squad should) how the Administrators of Rangers FC were allowed to continue trading at a loss over the 4 months since February. If this is really the case then Duff & Phelps should have shut down the club long before the end of the season. Will the truth between the relationship between Craig Whyte and Duff and Phelps ever come out ? I sincerely hope that there is a current ongoing investigation into this whole saga.

This whole situation is not the `end of world`, it`s a chance to rise up and reform Scottish Football after years of decline. Regan and Doncaster say that they have been looking into this for the last 2 years, yet why is it suddenly come up on the agenda? and why is it so inextricably tied in with Newco being admitted to SFL1 ?

we await with baited breath !

p.s. this story was added prior to the SFL meeting on Friday morning.

p.p.s SFL meeting at 14.00 has 25-5 in favour of Newco in Div 3. Now to get the SPL place sorted, but will that also take forever. no need to worry, season starts in 2 weeks !

p.p.p.s Sack Doncaster and Regan !!
