Mendes for Pars

Junior Mendes changes his stripes.

The much rumoured transfer of Junior Mendes from St Mirren to Dunfermline was completed today (24/07/00). Dunfermline get their man for a nominal fee (around £20,000) with Jose Quitongo signing for St Mirren as replacement.

St Mirren manager Tom Hendrie was quoted as saying that Mendes has made the biggest mistake of his life. Rich coming from a man who was also interested in coming to East End Park himself last November!

So Jose Quitongo who trained with Dunfermline towards the end of the 1999-2000 season now finds himself at Paisley. Dunfermline`s view will be a bit different from Hendrie`s as they take one of our rejects and we take one of their better players.
