Season Ticket Press Statement
Date: Wednesday, 30th Aug 2000Dunfermline Athletic Football Club wish to clear up any confusion that might surround the club's season tickets and admission policies.
The club issued a press release today (30/08/00).
At the start of the current season, Dunfermline Athletic set its season ticket prices. Regulations now require that 50% of all spectator income for Cup matches goes to the opposing team, meaning that clubs must pay a sum for all season ticket holders at the match to visiting side. Because of this, all other SPL clubs no longer include all Cup matches in their season ticket offers and some include none at all.
The Board of Dunfermline considered this carefully and decided to include the first home match in each of the two Cup competitions as part of the season ticket package, but thereafter to charge reduced prices to season ticket holders. Information about these arrangements has been circulated very widely - more than 5000 leaflets were distributed to shops, pubs, libraries and leisure complexes in Dunfermline and surrounding area. Articles have appeared in the local newspapers and on the club's unofficial website, and every season ticket holder in the last season was sent a letter explaining the prices.
"Dunfermline lost a considerable sum of money from the previous CIS Cup tie because virtually all of those in attendance were season ticket holders for whom a significant sum had to be paid to East Stirlingshire. For the third round against Premier League Motherwell, due to be played next week, Dunfermline have substantially reduced normal admission prices. Season ticket holders will be charged £8 for adults and £2 for concessions, while non season ticket holders will be charged £10 and £5. Current season ticket holders have been sent individual letters this week explaining these prices and the reasons for them.
