The player we had just signed was Mark Williams (20). He was a Royal Navy PE Instructor based at Rosyth Naval Base.

He was a fast left winger with a scorching shot. His Dad had played for Wales. The Welsh connection was due to John Toshack, the former Liverpool ace, whose Family came from the Dunfermline area, Big Tosh was a Pars fan as a kid. Three times he brought Swansea City to East End initially in Duvision 3 with Alan Curtis, Robbie James and Jeremy Charles.

In 1979 they included Tommy Smith and Ian Callaghan in Division 2. They made their final appearance in 1980 and, kindly, boosted the Ian Hall Testimonial Fund.

Just as in 1979; the Board really has shown commendable courage and ambition fending off bids of over £300k for Kevin Nisbet; but also bringing in an experienced goalkeeper the calibre of Owain Fon Williams.

He had been playing at the highest level since 2015 in Scotland and his transfer, inexplicably, caused surprise among the Scottish media. The influence of his friend, Danny Devine, from Inverness days, was a telling factor as he spoke highly of the club, stadium, facilities, support and camaraderie in the dressing room.

Owain has been capped and was in the hugely successful Welsh UEFA 2016 squad.

Of course, the greatest surprise has been that he is an exhibited artist. He was painting from childhood but this ability was developed at University and he has been exhibited, most recently in the Storiel Gallery in Bangor Wales.

In the world of art he is best known for "Together Stronger " but paintings such as "Summer In Oriel Mon"; "Bandrwm", "Ceffyl a Thram", "Paris Ar dan","Diolch Chris", "Don`t Take Me Home", "Barod an y gem"and "Tu oi ir daraig" make you wonder if he would consider exhibiting in Dunfermline.

The influence of growing up in North Wales and his knowledge of the Slate Industry are very evident.

While our players are no oil paintings, could he paint some famous players at the back of the NW Stand?
Over the years we have had famous players who were artists on the pitch but not one off it.
