I’ll be DES: the designated driver campaign

The aim of this campaign is to educate drivers and say ‘If you drink - don’t drive, get another to drink soft drinks and do the driving.

Dunfermline Athletics imminent launch of their new courtesy bus service, ties into this campaign extremely well. The bus will operate to and from the town centre to Legends Bar at East End Park and this service, which will be free, is to go on trial within the next couple of weeks and is to operate on Friday and Saturday evenings.

This service will also allow groups of friends or colleagues planning to start their night out at Legends to prearrange a collection time and then they can be taken into the Town at a time to suit.

John Yorkston, Chairman of Dunfermline Athletic commented - ‘We recognise the fact that Legends is a slightly out of Town location and as a result we are keen to encourage the use of our courtesy bus. We fully support the police in this worthwhile initiative and will provide our support at every opportunity possible.”

Jane Greer, Road Safety Manager said “ ‘DES’ is the best friend you will ever have. ‘DES’ can save lives, including yours; stop you getting a criminal record and get you home safely. Remember EVERY YEAR up to 3,500 people are killed or seriously injured because of drink drivers. Don’t be a statistic, be a ‘DES’.”
