Supporters trust event at EEP
Author: Jason Barber Date: Thursday, 7th Aug 2003Opening the event were John Yorkston, Brian Robertson and Jim Leishman of DAFC. The reigns were then handed over to Pars fan Rodney Shearer who hosted the event.
Some excellent points were put across by the panel on the night, namely Mike Barile of the Dundee United Arab Trust and James Proctor of Supporters Direct.
Both put across a number of strong arguments in favour of the formation of a trust, and it must be said it would be difficult to see any possible down side!
DAFC appear to have made themselves more than accomdating to the formation of a trust and have openly agreed to a representative from the trust taking a place on the board.
Both Mike and James spoke openly and passionately about the formation of a trust, and it would appear that one will be formed sooner rather than later. In extreme cases down south, trusts have actually prevented clubs going out of business. Meanwhile, in Scotland, 21 league clubs now have trusts already formed, with many others (including DAFC obviously) looking strongly at the possibility.
A strong show of hands voted to proceed with a "Pars Trust" on the night, with that name being agreed in principle for the trust.
Questionnaires were handed out to those in attendance (more than 60 on the night) but any further questions can be sent directly to Rodney Shearer on:

After the speeches, John Yorkston and Jim Leishman made themselves available for any questions in Legends Bar. Leish made a brief speech about how pleased he was to be back at Dunfermline, and how much he was looking forward to his first day of official work, which happens to coincide with the match against Celtic on Saturday........
