Dunfermline Athletic

Three Points !

Date: Tuesday, 15th Mar 2022

They say football is a simple game. And it really is this Friday evening for the Pars. Nothing less than the maximum 3 points will be suffice in their battle against the drop.

Dunfermline Athletic take on Greenock Morton at East End Park, live on the BBC Scotland Channel as well as ParsTV, in what is fast becoming a major match in the 2021-2022 SPFL Cinch Championship campaign.

John Hughes` men remain bottom of the table following a frustrating 2-2 draw against Hamilton Academical on Saturday and the West Fife side know how crucial a Cinch Championship clash this is on Friday evening

The Football Club have also recognised how vital this weekend`s league match is and have introduced their `Friday Night Football For A Fiver` initiative, to try and boost numbers as much as possible to cheer Athletic on to what would be a massive victory in their bid for survival in Scotland`s second-tier.

Hundreds of tickets have been sold pre-match, with the Manager admitting this is a real boost to the players and staff of DAFC, with a noisy, vociferous and colourful atmosphere against Dougie Imrie`s men potentially the wee advantage his side needs, to gain that little margin which is normally the difference between a win and a loss in this division.

Despite the hard times on the field, the Football Club continue to show their Local Community the support and encouragement they need when it comes to attending sport, participating in sport and achieving their goals in life. Dunfermline fans have given a fantastic support to the club over the years, with two Scottish Cup wins, a number of Scottish Cup and league Cup appearances and League winners. However, hoping to aspire to raise the profile in the list of influential football clubs is proving difficult at the moment but their aspirations should move them further up within time.

This Friday night will also see Athletes from the Fife Athletics Sports Club attend the match against Morton as part of CAFE`s Week of Action, which DAFC – alongside the Dunfermline Athletic Disabled Supporters Club – continue to support.

12-20 March: CAFE Week of Action
As notified in last month`s bulletin, DAFC and DADSC will take part in the 2022 Week of Action for disability awareness run across Europe by CAFE (Centre for Accessibility to Football in Europe). At the match against Morton on Friday 18 March there will be a half-time parade and presentation by a Paralympian gold medal winner and a squad of disabled athletes from Scottish Athletics. Pars TV will also be including in their half-time interlude an article about the athletes, filmed at Pitreavie.

One of those attending is Owen Miller MBE, who recently won Gold at the Tokyo Paralympics: the local lad will join his team-mates in doing a `lap of honour` up the North Stand touchline at Half-Time on Friday evening.

Nail-biting 90-minutes !
The score-line the last time the Ton faced the Pars was a 5-0 victory for the Cappielow side; while they have climbed the league in recent weeks while Dunfermline have struggled to get out of the bottom two spots, this match, and it`s outcome, is not a foregone conclusion and it will, once again, be an intriguing, enthralling, nail-biting and hopefully 3-point-winning 90 minutes which we as supporters of the West Fife Club are all more than used to by now.

Let`s get right behind the team – COME ON YE PAAAAAARS!!!!
