Dunfermline’s home record is beginning to look impressive – that’s 5 league wins from 5. A superb Gibson free-kick set the Pars on their way, and a Kirk tap-in had them two goals to the good at the break. Some second half consolidation followed before a late Woods strike sealed matters. Kyle Allison made a belated debut after goalkeeper Smith suffered a facial injury.

If the Pars are going to win this league they are going to have to do it the hard way. Practically every other week they play a side fired-up by the prospect of a local derby, or bonded through adversity. Despite a two-goal lead from two Gibson penalties, one a little soft, one less so, the Pars couldn’t close the game out, two bad mistakes letting Griffiths cause the damage.

This was a terrific game of football, with the Pars coming from a goal down to snatch the win in the 90th minute. Gibson and Clarke had given the Pars a half-time lead after Boyd’s controversial opener, only for Craig to level soon after half-time.

Ten minutes of defensive madness cost the Pars two goals and the points in the rain at Dumfries. First Smith completely missed a Dowie pass-back then he was lobbed from 40 yards by McLaren.
