Post Match Interviews
Author: Stuart Meldrum Date: Sunday, 20th Nov 2005Highlights from interviews given by Jim Leishman, Andy Tod and Paul Lambert after the game against Livingston at EEP.
Jim Leishman
Jim is bitterly disappointed with the result, he believes his side played well in the first half but failed to produce the same in the second. The killer blow was, not for the first time this season, a ‘wonder strike’ from the opposition. Jim is calling on his players to show what they are made of and he states that those players who are up for the fight are welcome to do so, those who are not can chose any number of divisions in this country. On the draw Leish is pleased as he avoided Celtic and believes that his side will be glad to have the change to fight for a cup final. He explains how bad it feels to go home and think the games over when your bottom of the league but goes onto say that he has no sympathy for anyone, stating “if they haven’t got the bottle, they are no use to me.” The injury crisis is hitting the club hard but Leishman realises that the fans aren’t interested in that and want the players on the park to give there all.
Andy Tod
Andy is also disappointed but points out that there is still a lot of football to be played. He didn’t think the side performed too badly on the day and feels that the players need to keep plugging away in order to pull themselves out of the mess they are in. When questioned over what the difference between the game and the Hibs game was he explained that they were two different matches and that an answer to such a question is hard to find. Tod praises the youngsters coming through and filling in for injured players, he believes that they are doing a great job and that young players shouldn’t be expected to play consistently tremendous throughout a season. Andy hadn’t even realised he was coming up for his 300th game and is happy to make such a milestone but would rather have the three points on the day.
Paul Lambert
Paul understands that it is a great three points for his side but is realistic in saying that it is still early to be thinking that they are safe from relegation. He praises his players and believes they give everything for Livingston. On Paul Dalgleish, Lambert is full of praise and labels his winning goal ‘world class’ from a player that has played for huge clubs. On the semi-final Paul is happy with the draw and thinks it is going to be a very hard match but looks forward to it.
