Post Match Interviews

Author: Stuart Meldrum Date: Saturday, 14th Jan 2006

Highlights from interviews given by Jim Leishman, Bartosz Tarachulski, Noel Hunt and Graham Rix after the game against Hearts at EEP.

Jim Leishman

Leishman explains how he asked his players for a reaction at half time and he felt that in the second half Dunfermline were doing ok before Hearts got the second goal. He gives praise to Webster and Pressley of Hearts and believes that in a team full of foreign talent the two Scotsmen shone at the back. The most disappointing thing for Jim is the fact that his side lost four goals and gave away the three points at home, having put a big show on against the bigger clubs. Talking about the disallowed goal, Jim didn’t see anything that would constitute a foul on the edge of the area although he says that he will have to look at it again. Andy Tod and Jamie McCunnie were said to be unwell and battled past illness to play the game such is the shortage of players through injury, however, one or two players are looking to make a return soon. On signings Jim tells us that a French player, Freddy Decan, came in has gone back to his club to talk about whether he will move or not, as well as another that is due to visit East End at a later date.

Bartosz Tarachulski

Not the most vocal or eloquent of players, Bartosz believes that the second half was better than the first and looks forward to the next game against Hibs. He says he is waiting for his chance in the team and on his chances he doesn’t believe they were quality chances to score. Lee Johnson, Hearts new signing, is a good friend of Bartosz from his playing career and he feels that it will prove a good signing for the Jambos.

Noel Hunt

Noel describes the performance as poor but admits that Hearts are a very strong side, although that doesn’t make it any easier for the players to take. He didn’t see anything wrong with Ross’ equaliser and he explains that the Hearts players also seen nothing wrong with the goal making it harder to understand. Hunt feels it was a game that Hearts dominated but he also thinks that they had a few good spells with some decent chances making it a game that didn’t merit a 4-1 score line. He explains that he is happy at the club and he has learnt a lot, he hopes that his contract can be negotiated and something sorted out soon although he isn’t desperate.

Graham Rix

Graham is delighted for his players and the huge travelling support as he feels that Hearts played very well. He is, however, disappointed to give a goal away and not keep the clean sheet but overall believes that the score line in the end overshadowed that. He clears up any speculation about a riff between himself and Pospisil, going as far as to admit that he told the player he was going to score before the match. With Tynecastle rife with transfer activity Rix states that he wants Paul Hartley to stay at the club and be successful with Hearts rather than moving down south
