Dunfermline boost squad with FOUR new signings!

The Pars have signed four new players: forward Andy Campbell and midfielders Stephen Simmons, Frederic Daquin and Scott Muirhead.

First up, Andy Campbell was born in Middlesbrough and started his career with his home town team.

Signed as a trainee, Campbell went on to make 35 starts for Boro, as well as 36 appearances from the bench. In total he scored 7 goals for the club.

Loan spells were taken in at Sheffield United, Bolton Wanderers and Cardiff City before the Welsh side elected to make the deal a permanent one. They paid a huge £950,000 for the then 23 year old in the spring of 2002.

More apperances from the bench than from the start never game Campbell a regular spot in the team. However, his one main claim to fame at Ninian Park was scoring the goak that took the Bluebirds into the Championship in the summer of 2003. He scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over QPR, needless to say in Cardiff itself!

Since then, loan moves to Oxford and Doncaster have failed to spark Campbell`s career and his move to Dunfermline gives him the opportunity to kick start his goal scoring once again.

Stephen Simmons will perhaps be the best known of the four new signings at the club today.

23 years old, his career has been at Hearts since 1998, barring a loan spell at Cowdenbeath. 47 starts for the Jambos, with another 56 from the bench have seen Simmons reply with 9 goals during his Tynecastle career.

Best known as a central midfielder, he has also been known to play on the right of midfield or even up front on the odd occasion. Two of the 13 appearances Simmons has made this season were in the CIS cup, so unfortunately he will be unavailable for the final on the 19th of March.

Frederic Daquin has signed after a brief trial with the club. The former Hibernian and Cannes winger made a brief sojourn into Scottish football back in 2002/03 season.

Four appearances, including two from the bench, were the only chances Hibernian fans ever got to see Daquin in action. The 27 year old will no doubt be aiming to make a much bigger impression in Scotland second time around.

Scott Muirhead has signed for a nominal fee from Aberdeen. Having been made available for transfer by Jimmy Calderwood, he has strangely enough still been deemed to be a first team regular this season under the manager.

Vying with Richie Byrne for the left back slot, Muirhead has found himself ahead of Byrne in terms of appearances. However, his last match saw him sent off during Aberdeen`s recent 2-1 win over Hibernian at Easter Road. 45 starts and 33 substitute appearances have seen Muirhead score two goals for Aberdeen, both in cup competition.

DAFC.net welcome all four new signings to the club and hope that they will be able to add their contribution to ensuring Dunfermline stay up in the SPL this season, as well as win only the third major trophy of the club`s history.

Daquin is not available for the visit of Motherwell tomorrow, but the three Scottish signings are all expected to be included in the squad for the match.
