Post Match Interviews

Author: Stuart Meldrum Date: Saturday, 3rd Feb 2007

Highlights from interviews given by Stephen Kenny, Stephen Frail and Adam Hammill after the Scottish Cup game against Hearts at EEP.

Stephen Kenny
Stephen points out that the last few games the team have played have been lost or drawn by very small margins – it just so happened that his team won today by a narrow margin. He pays credit to his new wide players who caused Hearts endless problems and really excited the home support. When asked if he ever thought the goal would come Stephen is honest by saying “absolutely not” as they haven’t been scoring goals. He admits that Hearts were always dangerous but that the team got the reward for having a go, helped by Dorus de Vries pulling off outstanding saves. Adam Hammill is one player that really impressed and Stephen explains about how hard it is to attract decent players to the bottom of the league but he wants, and expects, him and O’Brien to make their mark. Following two hard games against good opposition Kenny hopes for an easier draw to help them on to a semi-final.

Stephen Frail
With Valdis posted as AWOL it fell to coach Stephen Frail to attend the interviews. He doesn’t feel that the last minute goal is any harder to take than a first minute goal. He felt there was no lack of desire and they did enough to win the game but didn’t take the chances they created. Stephen believes there are no positives to take from the game but that they just have to get on with it and aim for the 2nd place spot. He is reluctant to comment about the constant and bizarre changes to the team. He admits that the team probably missed Paul Hartley but that all teams are going to miss good players though they do have players good enough to fill the gap.
