Post Match Interviews

Author: Stuart Meldrum Date: Friday, 17th Aug 2007

Highlights from interviews given by Stephen Kenny and Sean Murdoch after the game against BK Hacken at EEP.

Stephen Kenny
Stephen was happy at how determined his players were from kick-off and was delighted to get a goal so early on through Jim Hamilton. However, he knows that his team should have gone on, using their possession, to try and score more goals. Young goalkeeper Murdoch, at fault for the equaliser, is praised by Kenny for reacting the way he did to the blunder by pulling off some important saves later in the match to effectively keep his side in the game. Stephen admits that he cant complain about the scoreline as Hacken looked that bit quicker and sharper than his players but does point out that they did have chances to put the game beyond their opponents. Although Hacken got the away goal, Kenny is adamant that his side are not behind going into the second leg even though they will have to score in order to progress but he is confident that the tie is still winnable in Gothenburg. On the injuries that occurred during the game Kenny explains that McKenzie strained his thigh and Thomson strained a medial knee ligament, both substitutions restricted his ability to make the changes later on that they perhaps needed.

Sean Murdoch
Sean explains how the side went out and started brilliantly with the early goal but of course he debut was soured by the blunder which cost Dunfermline the lead. He is disappointed but is philisophical about it all and is pleased with the reaction of his manager and team mates who are very understanding. He is confident that the team has what it takes to go away from home and turn the tie around, he isn`t dismissive of Hacken but feels that Dunfermline`s team is a lot stronger and has what it takes.
