St Johnstone Post Match Interviews
Author: Stuart Meldrum Date: Monday, 21st Jan 2008Highlights from interviews given by Jim McIntyre, Derek McInnes and Scott Thomson after the game against St Johnstone at EEP.
Jim McIntyre
Jim jokes about the manager of the month curse but is seriously very disappointed with the result having had some very good chances to score, which for him is an upside. He isn’t ruling his team out of the title race but admits that when you are looking for two or maybe even more teams to slip up then it makes it very difficult, especially when you fail to peg bag the nearest opposition. The manager didn’t see the incident that seen Danny Murphy getting sent off on the final whistle but it does mean that it’s the defenders last game for the club which in itself is another blow. Mark Burchill who missed a first half penalty is defended by McIntyre who explains that the striker has been in a class of his own this season and cant fault him for one missed penalty.
Derek McInnes
Derek is very pleased with the result and he knew that a win at East End would be a very big result for his team.
Scott Thomson
Scott feels that it often comes back to haunt a team when they fail to take so many chances and that is exactly what happened today. He was disappointed to lose a goal at such a terrible time, right on the stroke of half-time, but he was pleased that the team came out flying again after the break, although to no avail. The results throughout the league looked to favour Dunfermline but having not taken the opportunity it makes it a little worse, what this does show is that every team can beat each other and that makes for an interesting cup tie on Tuesday. Scott talks about his experiences of Fir Hill and the only sending off of his career but he’s using the cup tie as a bonus to stop anyone dwelling on the league result. There was a shout for a second penalty for Dunfermline but Scott couldn’t see the incident and can only go on what has been said which is highly inconclusive.
