Livingston Post Match Interviews

Highlights from interviews given by Mark Proctor, Jim McIntyre, Alex Burke and Paul Willis after the game against Livingston at East End Park.

Mark Proctor
Mark wasn’t happy with his teams start to the match, which was compounded by the first goal of the game after a good run from Alex Burke. However, he did feel that his players managed to get it together and pass it about well mid way through the first half and created a few chances to equalise. The squad at Proctors disposal is very young but he is pleased at how well they play together and is happy to receive compliments from other managers on his teams ability, although this was forced upon the club due to the transfer embargo that Livingston are currently under. With it now pretty much impossible for Livi to win the league their manager is just looking to pick up as many points as possible and stay away from the bottom end of the table as they still have to look over their shoulders at the teams below. Mark talks about Jim McIntyres impact on Dunfermline since he was made manager and can tell it is an entirely different team from the one that his side defeated 4-0 earlier in the season, he does however admit that it will take time for the new manager to make the side his own and make all the changes he feels are necessary.

Jim McIntyre
Jim is honest and explains that he doesn’t think his team did enough to win the game but that there was chances to score in the second half. He tells us that Stephen Simmons was taken to hospital after his clash with an opposing player may have fractured his cheekbone but that they wont know until he has been checked over. Jim describes Dunfermline’s performance as a bit flat given the tempo the team has recently been playing at but was especially pleased with Alex Burke, who is set to sign a pre-contract with the club very soon, was clever throughout the game but feels he still needs a run of games to get him up to scratch.

Alex Burke
Alex feels that the players allowed Livingston to come back into the game after scoring the opener and that the second half was very even so the draw was maybe the fair result, making it three games unbeaten. He is looking forward to moving to the club full time and doing his part in challenging for promotion next season although he did have a chance at St.Mirren he fancies the fresh challenge. Even though the club is too far behind to go up this season Alex still believes that everyone in the squad has incentives to play their best whether it be to earn a new contract or simply for some pride and with McIntyre bringing in new players and letting other go this will increase a players motivation.

Paul Willis
Sixteen year old Paul is very happy to be getting his chance in the first team and explains that the senior players have helped him greatly with the pressures that come with this. Having come on as a sub in two games this season Paul has not looked out of his depth and is really enjoying the opportunity given to him by Jim McIntyre, which he is surprised to have been given but puts it down to hard work in training and impressive performances in the U19’s.
