Airdrie Post Match Interviews

Highlights from interviews given by Jim McIntyre, Steven Bell and Kenny Black after the game against Airdrie United at EEP.

Jim McIntyre
Jim doesn’t feel that his side played quite as well as they did against St.Johnstone last week and that the refereeing performance didn’t help in this game against Airdrie. He does however, credit his team for battling away having gone down to ten men after 54 minutes and even continuing to attack, looking for a winning goal. On the sending-off Jim is adamant that the player should have stayed on the pitch, he is especially aggravated with the first booking, in which Phinn clearly took the ball. Unfortunately for The Pars the chances they did create fell foul of poor decision-making and final balls that weren’t quite good enough. Good things to come out of the game were the two debuts for Steven Bell and Simon Wiles, the latter has signed for 1 year and will give more competition for places, although both are currently lacking for match fitness.

Steven Bell
Steven is glad to get back playing after a long time out with injury and had a hard time up against a young fit Airdrie side who were full of running. He admits that it was a surprise for him to get onto the bench with the success of the young lads that have been filling in recently, but was glad to get his chance and add to his match fitness. Although he is well on the come back trail, the former Stirling ma is still feeling pain following the operation that removed chunks of cartilage but is willing to put the work in, in order to reach top fitness. Again, on the sending off, he too finds the first booking a shocking decision as Phinn has clearly taken the ball.

Kenny Black
Kenny instantly admits that his team were out played and out fought by the home side and he is bitterly disappointed with that, however, he explains a point is good from East End Park at this stage in the season. Even when Dunfermline went down to ten men he didn’t think his side coped well enough and allowed The Pars to dominate throughout the park, that for him, is unacceptable. Black is very honest with his analysis of the game and even believes that Phinn’s second yellow for diving was in fact a penalty, jokingly claiming that his teams best performer was the referee with that decision.
