Ross County Post Match Interviews
Author: Stuart Meldrum Date: Monday, 22nd Sep 2008Highlights from interviews given by Derek Adams, Jim McIntyre, Steven Bell and Scott Thomson after the game against Ross County at EEP.
Derek Adams
Derek doesn`t have too many qualms about the result but felt his side did have a good deal of posession without creating too any chances. He is dissapointed with the sending off, that he believed was unjustified and does feel that this swung the game back in Dunfermlines favour.
Jim McIntyre
Jim praises Scott Thompson for his stunning opener which he believes his side needed given how the game started with Ross County coming out strong. He is also delighted with youngsters Bell and Phinn, as both midfielders netted goals to make the result a more comfortable one. On newcomer Ross Campbell, the loan signing from Hibs, he is glad to have the cover up front and also on the wings and having watched the lad several times, Jim knows he has made a good aquisition. Plaudits are also given to Kevin Harper who made many bursting runs and numerous crosses that should have amounted to more.
Steven Bell
Steven was involved in the incident that meant County were reduced to ten men but is honest in saying that his poor touch was more to blame than anything. He also admits that the sending off did change the game as County at that point were beginning to cause the home side problems. Obviously, Bell is very happy to open his account for his new club however fortunate the circumstances were with the close range header. Incidently that is his first goal since he scored against Dunfermline for Stirling Albion last season. Looking forward to the cup tie on Tuesday, the midfielder is unphased by SPL opposition and is confident he can play at that level and will hopefully prove it against St.Mirren.
Scott Thomson
Scott is jovial about his wonder strike that opened the scoring explaining how he argued with Andy Kirk over free-kicks earlier in the season and that this was his turn. Not a prolific goal scorer Nipper still maintains he has scored better goals in his carear but that this one is right up there with the best. Aside from his own exploits he is happy to get a good solid win at home against a good passing side but is adamant that the team has played a lot better and lost. With Nipper getting on a bit now in football terms he is enjoying his role behind the two spritely youngsters Bell and Phinn who continue to bomb up and down the park all game.
