Aberdeen Post Match Interviews
Author: Stuart Meldrum Date: Monday, 9th Mar 2009Highlights from interviews given by Jimmy Calderwood, Jim McIntyre and Calum Woods after the Cup game against Aberdeen at East End Park.
Jimmy Calderwood
Jimmy is happy to admit that Dunfermline dominated the first twenty minutes of play and caused his team`s system a lot of problems. However, the first twenty minutes in the second half was all Aberdeen pressure with Calderwood changing tactics and eventually the goal came from Aluko. McIntyre is given credit for his persistance at throwing strikers on and looking to attack the game which enabled The Pars to net the equaliser. Jimmy is dissapointed not to have won the game but realises that East End Park is a hard place to come and get a result and that the Dunfermline team probably has more SPL experience than his own. Compliments are given to both sets of fans for the reception the ex-pars manager recieved, a fantastice atmosphere was produced by both.
Jim McIntyre
Jim believes that his side deserved the equaliser and that in the first half they were very impressive with the better goal scoring opportunities. The gaffer wasnt surprised with the way Aberdeen came out of the blocks in the second half and the team found it difficult to cope with such a quality side. However, the players responded brilliantly after going a goal down and made the changes that allowed them to work themselves back into the game. McIntyre realises that Dunfermline are the under dogs for the replay at Pitoddrie but he is confident they can give a good account of themselves have have a great chance to go through. Graham Bayne also had to have stitches to his head and his tongue, with his eye almost shut due to bruising.
Calum Woods
Calum and the rest of the lads are pleased with the result in the end having gone a goal down. He feels it was a very hard fought team performance with all the players working together for the one cause. The youngster is happy with his own performance and that of his defensive team mates as they each had to put in some last ditch tackles on a number of occasions to stay in the game. Although the side is looking forward to the replay its all eyes on the next league game at Livingston on Tuesday.
