Ayr United Post Match Interviews
Author: Stuart Meldrum Date: Sunday, 11th Oct 2009Highlights from interviews given by Jim McIntyre, Willie Gibson and Brian Reid after the game against Ayr United at East End Park.
Jim McIntyre
After ending a long streak of defeats with a win, Jim explains the performance was dissapointing in the first half and that a twenty minute period in the second half brought the goals and the three points. With the league table remaining very tight it could be very different after a few matches and the win will hopefully act as a spring board for a run of good results. The penalty decision was spot on according to the manager and he is happy for Andy Kirk after being called up to the Northern Ireland squad although the team will miss his prescence upfront on Tuesday.
Willie Gibson
Willie admits that the manager gave them a roasting at half time which spurred them on to up their game in the second half. Gibson realises his personal performance was not good good enough and he was given five minutes to turn it around which he managed with two goals and an assist. The away support were giving the winger plenty of stick throughout the first half so he was very happy to give them it back when he got the opportunity having scored a couple to win the match.
Brian Reid
Brian believes that his side were the better team for most of the match and that the goals came against the run of play. He wants his players to take their chances in front of goal and use this defeat as a learning experience in order to prevent the same happening again. With the goalkeeper pulling off fantastic saves the gaffer is dissapointed for him that he ends up being three down in the second half.
