Hernandez From Holland
Date: Wednesday, 30th Aug 2000Dutchman Ferdino Hernandez (b 25 05 1971, Amersfoort, Netherlands) has arrived at East End Park to train with Dunfermline.
Jimmy Calderwood obviously knows the player having seen him play for FC Utrecht from 1993 until 1998/'99 and then for AZ Alkmaar for 1999/2000.
Described as a left winger, Ferdino had been linked with a move to Barnsley in July, had a trial with Hearts who turned out not to be interested and has been training with Clydebank more recently.
JC is known to feel he needs cover for the injured Stewart Petrie but with Lee Bullen back surely he will line up in the front two, Mendes free role behind them. When Rossi is ready to play can we expect Scott Thomson, Justin Skinner or Jason Dair being put into midfield where the contenders are Nicholson, Ferguson, Moss, May, Matthaei, Templeman and Boyle.
Stephen Boyle just doesn't seem to impress those who pick the teams. He has scored in every match that he has started. Injury to Petrie should be used to give Boyle a chance. Russel Huggon is also rated as a left sided winger.
Hope we don't sign Ferdino Hernandez just because he is Dutch!
