Heroes of the Halbeath Road
Date: Wednesday, 25th Nov 2020The PARfect Gift for Christmas? Two weeks ago, the Pars Supporters Trust launched their latest collaboration with Pars fan and author, Mike Gibb.... and the response has been great with over 420 books sold to date!
So we`d like to remind fans to place their orders quickly to ensure that they do not end up on Santa`s "Naughty list" by missing out on this great read.
‘Heroes of the Halbeath Road’ is an affectionate, light-hearted and, on occasions, poignant look back at the lives and times of seven men who achieved legendary status with the Pars as players or managers and, in three instances, as both. The book reflects on the careers of Charlie Dickson, Norrie McCathie, Stevie Crawford, Jock Stein, Bert Paton, Jim Leishman, and Scott Thomson while touching on the contributions of a host of other characters who have played their part in the history of our club.
The book also includes a foreword from Sir Alex Ferguson who was only too pleased to provide his recollection of our club. “I loved being a player at East End Park, with a galaxy of the best players I had the privilege to play with” he writes.
This is the third book Mike has produced for the PST, with the first two featuring another Pars legend, Sammy the Tammy!
PST Chair and club Director Drew Main commented “We can’t thank Mike enough for his efforts on our behalf and we’re sure Pars fans everywhere will enjoy this nostalgic journey spanning six decades of our club’s illustrious history. I’d also like to thank Stevie, Bert, Jim and Scott for their contributions as well as Arlene Horsburgh, daughter of Charlie Dickson, for sharing some fascinating stories of her late father”.
