Wintry Weather Doesn`t Deter Dunfermline

Date: Friday, 23rd Dec 2022

Last weekend`s match with Airdrieonians fell foul to the adverse weather conditions, delaying the end of the second quarter of the SPFL cinch League One campaign by 7 days for the Pars.

Despite snowed off pitches and freezing conditions, Athletic had prepared well for the trip to face the Diamonds last weekend. However, the writing was on the wall when Celtic B`s `home` match against Tranent Juniors was called off in the Lowland League the night before, with the match set to be played at The Penny Cars Stadium also.

Dave Mackay previewed the match with Airdrieonians, explaining how training hadn`t been deterring Dunfermline despite the wintry weather.

The last match the Pars played will be 15 days ago when kick-off arrives against Kelty Hearts on Christmas Eve. That night, the men from West Fife progressed to the Quarter-Finals of the SPFL Trust Trophy with victory over Championship side Arbroath.

The resounding 5-1 victory will have kept the spring in the step of the DAFC players, despite an unexpected weekend of inactivity. Lewis McCann has returned to full training since the match with the Red Litchties and scored a brace in a 3-2 Bounce Match victory over Dundee United, which will give Manager James McPake a positive headache for this weekend`s clash with Fife rivals – The Maroon Machine.

James McPake talks to ParsTV ahead of the final match of 2022 on Saturday.

With the match taking place prior to Christmas Day, everyone connected to the KDM Group East End Park side will be hoping for an early gift from Santa, with 3 points top of the wish-list for everyone wearing Black & White stripes for the final time this year.
