Dunfermline is Brad`s New Holmes
Date: Wednesday, 31st Jan 2024Dunfermline Athletic made their second signing of the January Transfer Window, with the capture of Brad Holmes from Blackpool on a loan deal until the end of the campaign.
The 21-year-old striker was most recently on-loan at Southport, but has also had spells away from the Tangerines at sides such as FC United of Manchester, AFC Fylde and Chorley.
The Blackpool native has played and trained alongside Owen Moffat, with `Moff` being on-loan from the English League One side, too. The ex-Celtic winger has bigged up the KDM Group East End Park side and the supporters, convincing Holmes that Scotland is the best destination for the next step in his career.
Holmes joins Malachi Fagan-Walcott in joining the Pars during the Winter Transfer Window, with the former Tottenham Hotspur defender joining on a temporary transfer from Cardiff City. The EFL Championship side were also keen to let one of their hot prospects leave for West Fife, which must be a glowing compliment to DAFC and the work going on, not just on the field by James McPake and his coaching staff, but those behind-the-scenes too.
Fagan-Walcott made his debut for Dunfermline Athletic on Saturday, in a 0-0 draw away to league leaders Dundee United at Tannadice Park. A clean-sheet and a rock solid performance has given everyone a boost heading into a trio of home matches throughout February.
With just 36 hours left of the Transfer Window, the Black & White may yet still make moves to strengthen the squad, but with players returning from injury and the quality shown away to Jim Goodwin`s side at the weekend, there is cause for optimism as Athletic look to push towards the Promotion Play-Offs, with less than half a season remaining.
