DAFC sign ex-Rangers centre half
Author: J Barber Date: Monday, 5th Aug 2002Dunfermline Athletic today announced the signing of Scott Wilson who was a free agent after his contract ended with the Ibrox club during the summer..
25 year old Wilson comes to Dunfermline with a lot of experience under his belt. Longest serving player left on the Ibrox payroll, he played 78 first team games for Rangers including numerous European ties.
Wilson played for Portsmouth towards the end of last season but a full time contract was not forthcoming. Further trials at Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesboro left Wilson looking like he would be without a club going into the new season.
However, today he signed on the dotted line for a two year deal at East End Park.
This signing opens up all sorts of formation possibilities for Jimmy Calderwood, the most popular of which would see Scott Thomson playing further up the park than he does at present.
Wilson's presence in defence alongside Andrius Skerla would provide a formidable central defensive partnership that most other teams in the SPL would envy.
DAFC.net welcomes Scott to Dunfermline and hopes he can forge a great first impression starting with a clean sheet on Saturday for the home game against Livingston
