Player ratings v Dundee
Author: Jason Barber Date: Saturday, 17th Aug 2002Dunfermline ended up winning all 3 points today with a remarkable attacking performance in the second half. 1-0 and 2-1 down, Dunfermline never gave up and deservedly won the match.
Here is a brief look at the player performances. A full match report will be posted later.
Dunfermline lined up with the same starting line up as last week:
Ruitenbeek, Bullen, Skerla, Thomson, Dair, Hampshire, Nicholson, Dempsey, Kilgannon, Brewster and Crawford.
Ruitenbeek: At fault for both Dundee goals in my view. Flat footed for the first and a rush of blood for the second which saw him further off his line than ever before! Not good enough. 5/10
Bullen: Given a torrid time at centre half by better players this week, often caught out of position. Moved further forward in second half and a lot more effective. 6/10
Skerla: Timely tackles when game could have run away from Dunfermline. Appeared to be on his own at times! 8/10
Thomson: Again, given a torrid time by Novo and could have done better at times. Will be glad to see back of Dundee! 7/10
Dair: Effective at times and was unlucky to be subbed. 7/10
Hampshire: Not nearly as good as last week unfortunately. Looked out of his depth at times when DA were behind. Can do better though. 6/10
Nicholson: Wasted early corners and crosses and tried to play fancy passes instead of keeping it simple. Far more effective when the simple football took control in the last half hour. 7/10
Dempsey: Great cross for first equiliser. Tenacious little performance from a young player who shows great potential. 7/10
Kilgannon: Set up Brewster with inch perfect pass for his goal. Far more accurate crosser than anyone else today, McGroarty was a direct replacement as a sub. 7/10
Brewster: Given a tough time as he was man marked throughout game. Still found plenty of passes and his link up play was superb. Deserved his goal, great partnership with Crawford again! 8/10
Crawford: Superb. Perfect hat trick. Confidence is high and you can tell straight away. Deserved man of the match as well as the match ball! 10/10
Subs:
Scott Wilson: Brought on to sort out defence and did just that. Likely starter next week. Confident debut.
Chris McGroarty: Did not get chance to do much, but saw DAFC go into the lead whilst he was on the park!
