The Pars Look To Benefit From Lennon`s Position Switch
Date: Monday, 21st Jul 2025The 2024/25 Scottish Championship campaign was another difficult and disappointing one for Dunfermline Athletic as we secured a seventh place finish in the table with 35 points but we were well off the pace given the games won by those sides in the top few places in the table.
Given March`s pretty unexpected appointment of former two time Celtic gaffer Neil Lennon back in March, a return of eight points from his opening eight games was not great, but he has a task on his hands with The Pars and everyone knew that this summer, the transfer window and the moves that we make in the market would play a huge role in determining whether or not the 54 year old`s first full season in charge would be considered a success.
For those fans who like a flutter, they will have been pouring over the pre season odds on what the season may have in store for us, but for those who prefer online gaming on the Betpanda crypto casino app, there are a plethora of choices available to you for your own enjoyment.
We have already seen a number of changes to the make up of our first team squad with new faces arriving through the doors of the KDM Group East End Park, and others departing for pastures new but one player who seems to be relishing our pre season build up under Lennon is Josh Cooper.
The 22 year old forward has had a mixed spell at the club since joining us 12 odd months ago, but having been handed a new role by our gaffer this summer, it could be quite the transformative season for the youngster as he marked his first competitive start of the season with a very well taken goal in the 38th minute in Saturday`s 4-1 defeat to Hearts at Tynecastle.
Whilst the defeat was disappointing, many are hoping that it will serve as a fresh start for the player given the troubles that he had last season, but with his contract extension sorted in early June, he gets both a full pre season this year but also the Premier Sports Cup games under his belt, so he should be able to hit the season running this time around and really make his mark.
Speaking after the game, Cooper explained that he felt he was settling into his more attacking role quite well and having found the back of the net already, it was helping his confidence in the new position and he was pleased with how the year was shaping up for him.
It has certainly been a learning curve for him as a couple of years back he was obviously just playing part time football before making steps to turn professional last summer with us, and with his appearances for us last season now serving as a grounding - albeit mostly substitute showings - he is now looking to seriously up his numbers and hopefully make himself one of the first names on the team sheet.
Having been moved from midfield to attack, it certainly seems that he already has the backing and the belief of the gaffer and that will definitely help him during the ups and downs that we will inevitably have as the next few months progress, but we know that Lennon is notoriously demanding of his players so there should definitely be further improvements in our play as the next few weeks pass.
