Wilson grateful as Marco pulls out the stops for Pars
Author: Niall Shaw Date: Tuesday, 17th Sep 2002Scott Wilson today thanked goalkeeper Marco Ruitenbeek for saving his blushes with some crucial stops during Saturday`s 2-1 win over Dundee United.
Garry Dempsey and Stevie Crawford fired the Pars into a comfortable two-goal lead before a Wilson miscue allowed Derek Lilley to close the gap and set up a nail-biting second half for Dunfermline.
And it took a series of top-class saves from Ruitenbeek to prevent Alex Smith`s men drawing level.
"We struggled in the second half and it was backs-to-the-wall stuff," said Edinburgh-born Wilson.
"Their goal was probably my fault. I was stretching for it and I`m happy to put my hand up and take the blame. But Marco saved us a few times."
The victory saw Dunfermline record back-to-back Premierleague away wins for the first time in almost 12 years. That statistic comes hot on the heels of the Pars ending a run of 41 years at Easter Road without a win.
