Pars expectations rising

Author: Niall Shaw Date: Tuesday, 1st Oct 2002

Boss Jimmy Calderwood feels the players are now more disappointed if they fail to pick up points from away games.

"It`s because we have moved to the next level," Calderwood said, after the club lost 3-1 at Aberdeen on Saturday. "We are always striving for perfection and the players have set themselves some high standards this season. We expect something from trips away."

Calderwood is concerned about his side`s poor defending after the 3-1 defeat. He said "We are letting people run off us, whether it`s defenders running through into midfield or midfielders through to forwards. That side is disappointing. It was poor at Aberdeen and we gifted them two goals and lost the game. We shouldn`t lose after going one-nil up."

Meanwhile, Pars defender Scott Wilson is doubtful for the match with Partick Thistle at East End on Saturday, having pulled his hamstring during the Pittodrie game. Steven Hampshire is also an injury doubt (ankle knock) while striker Craig Brewster is automatically suspended for one game following his red card.
