Both sides were accorded a standing ovation after battling to a draw at Dens Park. A sensational Alex Burke strike had the Pars in the lead at the break, but Dundee showed the fighting qualities that have contributed to their 22 match unbeaten run when A. Trialist bagged the equaliser. Try as they might, neither side could find a winner.

At this stage of the season the mantra “winning ugly” is often trotted out as an excuse to explain a poor performance, although the Pars took this a little to extremes in a game both invigorated and damaged by some odd refereeing. Fortunately Martin Hardie’s third strike in the 92 minute allowed him to steal the headlines from Mr Nicholls.

As the promotion race hots up, so the Pars seem to be going off the boil – another insipid performance, although not marred by as many defensive blunders, sees another two points dropped. A Smith mistake allowed Barrowman a goal midway through the second half but a late Kirk penalty squared the game.

The Pars’ ongoing promotion campaign stuttered again when they collapsed to a 3-1 home reverse, failing to recover from calamitous concession of a goal inside 40 seconds. Two further blunders coupled with an attack that rarely tested the goalkeeper means the Pars now trail Raith Rovers by 6 points.
