Dunfermline Youngster Secures Loan Spell For Confidence Boost

Date: Sunday, 28th Sep 2025

Early on Wednesday evening,  Dunfermline Athletic confirmed that Connor Young had agreed to, and completed, a loan move out to East Kilbride on a spell that would last until January and the New Year.

The 21 year old left footed versatile attacker makes the switch out to Mick Kennedy`s K-Park outfit presumably in the search for greater game time as he continues his development in the `beautiful game` of football.

The loan deal was secured by both parties ahead of Tuesday`s loan transfer deadline for short term deals and has now been confirmed by both clubs. As fans will know, the young attacking talent made the move to the Pars following an impressive and prolific spell with Edinburgh City in League Two, and having impressed our recruitment staff he is very much considered one for the future, and this loan spell will be designed to bring him on even further as we continue to cast an eye over him, and hope he begins to more quickly settle in and re-find his own form.

With 18 goals in 21 league appearances, the former Hibernian and Rangers youngster has lost a step as he tried to adjust to the Championship level. He is goalless in 14 competitive matches and has fallen out of contention for gaffer Neil Lennon with his last appearances coming as a late substitute in the Ross County 2-2 draw back on August 30.

So stepping down a level again now could be exactly what the proverbial Doctor ordered as he looks to regain his confidence. As those who use  live casino table games online will know themselves, sometimes you step back to move forward.

Clearly our management feel that this is a move that is required to get him back on track, and we have okayed the loan move despite Zak Rudden`s thigh injury that will keep him sidelined for at least the next two months as he completes his recovery and rehabilitation phase. Naturally, we have cover in forward areas from the likes of Andrew Tod who is showing impressive form as a striker, but the recent loan capture of Barney Stewart from Falkirk, gives Lennon good options alongside Chris Kane - and the short term nature of this loan deal means we can more quickly assess future requirements depending on what the next couple of months deliver to us on the pitch.

Hopes continue to be high for Rory MacLeod who has backed up his own recent signing from Dundee United, by finding the back of the net three times from just six appearances as well, so the 19 year old continues to prove his worth to both the team and Lennon as well as he assesses options.

Young could make his debut for the SPFL side, following their promotion from the Lowland League, in Saturday`s clash with Clyde. Fellow  Dunfermline  youngster Taylor Sutherland is already on loan with them, but the Lanarkshire outfit will be looking to build on the fact that they sit second in the fourth tier at this moment of time.

It is expected that Dunfermline will get another few youngsters out for real loan and game experience to the Lowland League in the coming days and weeks.
