Author: Brian Duncan Date: Friday, 8th Nov 2002An excellent performance in the CIS Quarter round tie. What did the managers think of it ?

We had call off`s so it was a chance for the other lads to get in and get match fit. We new Dunfermline would go for it, but the players ground a result out. We changed the system as it was right for the personnel, we didn`t create as much and recognised that in the first half.
We didn`t really have a lot of chances with Dunfermline, it was never going to be like the last game, we have to earn the right every game.
I`ve no problem with the competitive edge, Rickson tackles hard and he`s to expect the same. The referee dealt with it the right way. Rickson should learn not to react. We`re just happy to get through this round and we don`t mind who we get in the semi-finals. We got away with a victory so we`re happy tonight.

So near, but we still got beat 1-0, I`m proud it was a tremendous performance, you`re playing against the team at the top of the league. We went out defensively I thought we were tremendous, Skerla, Big Scott and Gus at the back, we didn`t give many chances away. Dempsey had a slight chance in the first half, Marco made a tremendous save.
When we were on the ball we should have done better, in the second half we got that sorted out and I think we created the best chances,
Craig had a good shot in from Dempsey`s cross but Klos made a good save, Crawford also had a good shot. We also thought it was a stonewall penalty, when its 0-0 you got to get the breaks and we didn`t get it. Then Gus lost out to Caniggia, the quality of the lad and he`s finished it. Then we went for it, we threw more forwards on, as we do now and again, and if we lost another then its as bad as losing 1-0.
I think we`ve got in amongst them which we`ve not done in the past, we created problems for them, if we went ahead we would have won the game. I think we deserved to win the game.
We just didn`t get the break. we`ve had that referee 3 times this year, twice against Rangers and once against Celtic here, and further than that I won`t make any comment.
When asked about Scott Thomson, he said there was nothing wrong with him. he had a we disagreement with the manager, and then he found out that the manager is still the boss.

It just sums up our luck tonight, Jason Dair`s done brilliantly got to the bye line and takes it to the far post manage to lay it off to Barry he`s caught it as sweetly as he could, and it hit Craig , that summs up the luck against the old-firm and you need a bit when you play the old firm, Stevie`s had a great volley and the keeper made a good save.
I think the referee bottled the penalty decision, between the referee and the linseman one of them should have seen it. In the heat of the game, maybe they didn`t see it, but.
We`ve another OF game again soon, but tonight we`ve proved that we`re catching up now, and we`ve anything to fear. We`ve nothing to lose, we might as well have a go and ruffle a few feathers, and we did that tonight.
With it being on TV, people may sit up and take notice of us now. It was end to end stuff, we had a good team performance, it had all, tackles, bookings, controversy, so now hopefully the attendances will start picking up.
Its back to concentrate on the league and we have a tough game on Tuesday, and if we play like that we should do OK, our aim is to finish top 3 (outside old firm).

We had a good performance, we had Rangers on the back foot for long spells, Stevie had a good shot, he played it well, I think Rangers were glad to hear the final whistle.
On the penalty issue, the ref says he didn`t see the incident, but thats the easy way out, but it was a poor decision. When you play the OF you need a strong referee.
We`ll gain confidence from this performance thats the main thing, though we`re still very very disappointed.
I`ve been struggling with my fitness but now I`m getting games and really improving now.
