All the promise of the initial weeks of the season is rapidly fading, as the Pars went down to another defeat, Andreu’s strike midway through the first half proving to be the only goal of the game. The Pars enjoyed the bulk of possession but failed to convert this into chances, let alone goals.

After winning the hard games, this was meant to have been an easier fixture for Dunfermline. However, one of the beauties of football is that it doesn’t always follow its predicted path. Airdrie deserved their win – two goals from Ryan Donnelly and a late penalty from Paul Di Giacomo giving them the points with the Pars only having a Ryan Wallace goal to celebrate; that and the memory of Norrie McCathie.

SFL table toppers the Pars take on 9th placed Airdrie this Saturday. Former Pars player Liam Buchanan has departed the Diamonds whilst Ross Davidson has been signed from Kilmarnock.
An emotional date in the Pars calendar is remembered with a minute`s applause 4mins into the match in respect of former pars legend and club captain Norrie McCathie.

The closeness of this year’s first division was exemplified when the Pars leapt two places to first after this narrow win at Dumbarton. Andrew Barrowman converted Whittle’s cross within 60 seconds in what proved to be the only goal of the game, amidst horrible overhead conditions.

This game had been long anticipated in Dunfermline, as much for providing the chance to generate cash-flow as for the opportunity to put one over their old rivals. In the end only one goal separated the sides on the field of play – Andy Geggan’s first for the club with 20 minutes of the game remaining meant the Pars can start the new year off the way they hope to continue – and there was a decent crowd there to witness it.
